What it's used for

TATÚ FX Veins Medium is designed for any professional or enthusiast in special effects makeup who needs to add vascular detail quickly, repeatably and without the risk of hand-painting errors. The designs can be combined to adjust the intensity and level of realism depending on the character or scene.

  • Character makeups: vampires, corpses, zombies, sick characters or elderly looks
  • Subtle vascular effects for artistic photographic portraits
  • Medical simulations and training in first aid or medicine
  • Cosplay and costumes requiring realistic skin detail
  • Film and television productions with time pressure in the makeup room
  • Theatre and performing arts where makeup must read from a distance
  • Layering multiple designs to achieve depth and greater vascular density

How to use it

  1. Clean and thoroughly dry the area of skin where you will apply the tattoo. The skin must be free of creams, oils and sweat.
  2. Cut out the vein design you want to apply, leaving a small margin around it.
  3. Place the tattoo printed side down on the skin.
  4. Dampen the back of the paper with a sponge or cloth moistened with cold or lukewarm water. Hold firm pressure for 20–30 seconds.
  5. Carefully peel away the paper by sliding it from one corner. The design will be transferred onto the skin.
  6. Allow a few seconds to dry before touching the area. Do not rub.
  7. If you need more vascular density, layer a second design slightly offset for added depth and realism.
  8. To set and extend wear, apply a makeup setting spray over the transferred area.
  9. To remove the tattoo, use baby oil or a makeup remover specifically designed for transfers.

Usage tips

Combine and layer designs

Each sheet includes 7 designs in different shapes and sizes precisely so you can mix them. Layer two or three veins offset from each other to create a denser vascular network with a sense of depth. Vary the orientation so the result doesn't look repetitive.

Integrate with palette makeup

The transfer tattoo provides structure, but blending it with the character's skin tone is achieved by working over it with alcohol-activated makeup palettes. Once the transfer is applied and fully dry, you can soften the edges or add shading with a Skin Illustrator Flesh Tone Palette or the Skin Illustrator Complexion Palette to match any skin tone. For darker skin tones, the Skin Illustrator Dark Fleshtone Palette offers the right colour range.

Remember the design reversal

As with all transfers, the design is applied mirrored onto the skin. Keep this in mind if there are directional shapes or if you're positioning veins on specific anatomical areas (wrist, neck, temple). Plan the placement before wetting the paper to avoid wasting designs.

Frequently asked questions

How long does this type of temporary tattoo last on skin?

Under normal conditions, temporary transfer tattoos like TATÚ FX Veins Medium last between 1 and 3 days in areas with little friction and no moisture. For professional use on set or stage, the wear time is more than sufficient for a full working day. To extend longevity, apply a setting spray once the transfer is dry.

Can it be used on any skin tone?

Yes. The vein designs in TATÚ FX Veins Medium are intended to adapt to different skin tones. On darker skin, it may be necessary to adjust the result using alcohol-activated makeup over the transfer so the veins integrate correctly with the base tone.

Is it safe to apply these transfers directly on skin?

Yes, temporary transfer tattoos are formulated for direct cosmetic use on skin. However, if you have very sensitive or irritated skin, always perform a patch test on a small area before applying to larger areas.

Can it be applied over a silicone prosthetic or encapsulated piece?

Water transfer is designed for skin. On silicone prosthetics or materials such as PTM Light Flesh or PTM Clear, adhesion results may vary. In these cases it is preferable to paint directly with alcohol-activated makeup or use the Neills PTM transfer paper, specifically designed for prosthetics.

How do you remove the tattoo without damaging the skin?

The easiest and safest way to remove a temporary transfer tattoo is to apply oil (baby oil, olive oil or an oil-based makeup remover) to the area, leave it for 30 seconds and remove with a gauze pad or soft cloth. Do not rub hard to avoid irritating the skin.

Can I combine this product with other vein transfers for larger areas?

Yes, this is precisely one of its key strengths. You can combine multiple designs from the same sheet or use several sheets to cover larger areas such as the neck, torso or arms. The key is to overlap and offset the designs so the vascular network looks continuous and organic.

Does it hold up well on camera and under set lighting?

Yes. TATÚ FX Veins Medium is designed for professional use in film, television and photography. The designs retain detail under direct set lighting. To ensure maximum durability under heat or sweat conditions, always seal with a setting spray before filming.

Do you need experience to apply these transfers?

No. One of the main advantages of TATÚ FX Veins Medium is that it requires no specific technical training. Application is direct, fast and repeatable. It's ideal both for professional makeup artists working under time pressure and for SFX enthusiasts who want a convincing result without mastering a brush.
