What it is used for

This transfer paper is designed for two fundamental uses in the professional makeup and special effects environment: creating high-fidelity temporary tattoos on skin and applying graphic designs onto PTM (Prosthetic Transfer Material) materials such as PTM Light Flesh, PTM Clear or PTM Pink 5. Laser printing guarantees sharpness and serial reproducibility.

  • Temporary tattoos for film shoots, theatre and television
  • Design transfers onto prosthetics and PTM silicone pieces
  • Body decoration for events, festivals and brand activations
  • Creation of tattooed skin effects, symbolic wounds or character marks
  • Serial reproduction of the same design with an office laser printer
  • High-precision artistic makeup in productions with tight time budgets

How to use it

  1. Prepare your design on the computer in digital format (high-resolution TIFF, PDF or JPG).
  2. Load the Tattoo and PTM Transfer Paper sheets into your laser printer following the orientation indicated on the paper (transfer side face down).
  3. Print the design at the highest quality available on your printer.
  4. Allow the printed paper to cool completely before handling it.
  5. For temporary tattoo on skin: clean and dry the application area. Place the paper with the design in contact with the skin, press firmly and dampen the back with a wet sponge. Maintain the pressure for 30 to 60 seconds and carefully peel off the paper.
  6. For transfer onto PTM: apply the printed paper onto the already cured PTM piece (such as PTM Clear or PTM Light Flesh) following the same process of pressure and controlled moisture.
  7. Peel off the backing paper gently and check that the design has transferred correctly. If there are areas that have not transferred, you can repeat localised pressure.
  8. Once dry, you can apply a light fixative or encapsulant to extend the durability of the transfer.

Usage tips

Print quality and paper orientation

Always make sure to print on the correct side of the paper: the transfer side is usually slightly shinier or marked. A wrong orientation when loading the paper into the printer tray is the most common cause of poor results. Always do a test with one sheet before printing the full batch.

Skin or PTM substrate preparation

For temporary tattoos on skin, the surface must be completely clean, free of creams, oils or sweat. On skin with heavy hair, the transfer may lose edge definition. On PTM substrates, work on well-cured pieces at room temperature; avoid applying the transfer onto freshly demoulded pieces that may still be slightly damp.

Integration with PTM materials

The Tattoo and PTM Transfer Paper is specially optimised to work alongside Neill's Materials' PTM range. If you are looking for transfers with a more neutral base tone, combine it with PTM Clear; if you need a flesh base that blends better with fair skin tones, go for PTM Light Flesh. To finish and tone down the prosthetic once the transfer has been applied, Fleet Street DirtWorks Powders are a very effective resource for adding texture and ageing.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work with any laser printer?

This transfer paper is designed for standard laser printers (toner technology). It is not compatible with inkjet printers. Most office laser printers work correctly. If in doubt, check your equipment's specifications before loading the paper.

How long does the temporary tattoo last on skin?

Durability depends on the area of the body, perspiration and friction. Under normal shoot or event conditions, a temporary tattoo applied with this paper can last from several hours to a full day. For greater durability, apply a light fixative or makeup lacquer once the transfer is dry.

Can it be printed in colour or only in black?

You can print in both black and colour, as long as you use a laser printer with colour toner. Colour results will depend on the toner quality and print resolution. For realistic tattoo effects, black usually delivers the most faithful result.

Is direct transfer onto skin safe?

The paper itself is a non-toxic transfer medium, but the safety of the final result also depends on the toners used in the printer. For professional applications on skin, always verify that the toners you use are suitable for dermal contact, or carry out a tolerance test on a small area before full application.

Can this paper be used to make transfers onto silicone?

Yes, it is one of its main uses. The Tattoo and PTM Transfer Paper is specifically designed to work with Neill's Materials' PTM materials. It allows printed designs to be transferred onto PTM Light Flesh, PTM Clear or PTM Pink 5 pieces, adding graphic detail to prosthetics with great precision.

How many copies of a design can I get from this pack?

The pack includes 10 A4 sheets. Each sheet can contain one or several designs depending on their size. If your designs are small (for example, wrist or neck tattoos), you can arrange several on the same sheet and get dozens of transfers per pack.

Do I need any additional product to apply the PTM prosthetic once the design has been transferred?

For a complete professional PTM prosthetic application, in addition to the transfer, you will need specific adhesives to fix the prosthetic to the skin and makeup products to blend the edges. Fleet Street DirtWorks Powders are very useful for toning down and adding realism once the piece is in place.

Can the paper be stored and how long does it last unopened?

Store the paper in a cool, dry place away from direct light. Storage in its original sealed packaging ensures that the sheets do not absorb moisture and the transfer layer is not damaged. Under proper conditions, the product retains its properties for at least two years.
