What it is used for
Transparent Jelly is designed for film, television, theatre and special effects makeup artists who need to simulate moisture, sweat or organic sheen on skin quickly and with precision. Thanks to its full transparency, it does not alter the tone or details of previously applied makeup.
- Realistic sweat effect in action, sports or dramatic tension scenes
- Wet or moist skin for characters exposed to rain, water or heat
- Shiny finish over wounds, burns and prosthetic effects
- Enhancement of skin textures in sick, zombie or creature character makeups
- Localised application to specific areas: forehead, neck, chest, back
- Complement over airbrush or conventional makeup that has already been set
How to use it
- Make sure the base makeup is completely dry and set before applying the gel.
- Open the container and pick up a small amount of gel with a latex sponge, a cellulose sponge or a flat soft-bristle brush.
- Apply the gel to the desired areas of skin using gentle dabbing or light strokes, depending on the effect you want: dripping, an even film or localised build-up.
- Allow to dry for a few minutes. The gel will go from a liquid appearance to an almost dry layer that retains a persistent wet sheen.
- If you need more intensity, add a second coat once the first has dried.
- For touch-ups during filming or performance, reapply directly over the previous layer without needing to remove it.
Usage tips
Finish control
The amount of gel you apply determines the level of sheen. A thin coat gives a light, natural sweat appearance; several accumulated coats simulate soaked skin or visible droplets. If you want a more matte finish but with some wet texture, you can combine it with a small amount of HD Matting Spray Clear applied on top once the gel has dried.
Compatibility with other products
Transparent Jelly works well over water-, alcohol- and silicone-based makeups, provided they are fully set. If you work with Skin Illustrator Glazing Gels, you can combine both to achieve variations in sheen and depth across different areas of the face or body. For dirt effects integrated with moisture, Fleet Street DirtWorks Powders applied before the gel deliver a very convincing result.
Storage and cleaning
Close the container tightly after each use to prevent the gel from drying out at the neck of the jar. Clean the sponge or brush with warm water immediately after use. Store the product at room temperature, away from direct heat sources and sunlight.
Frequently asked questions
Can it be applied directly onto skin without makeup?
Yes. Transparent Jelly can be applied directly onto clean skin if you only need the wet effect without any base makeup. It works equally well on bare skin for localised sweat effects.
How long does the effect last once applied?
The shiny effect remains stable once the gel has finished drying. On set, it is common to touch up between takes to maintain the visual intensity, especially during long scenes or in high ambient heat.
Is it easy to remove?
Yes. The gel is removed with warm water and mild soap. It does not leave persistent residue or stain the base makeup if removed carefully.
Can it be mixed with pigments or colorants?
Transparent Jelly is formulated to be used transparent. If you need a coloured gel with a wet appearance, we recommend checking other specific products in the Feroca catalogue designed for that purpose.
Is it suitable for use over silicone or gelatine prosthetics?
Yes. Transparent Jelly is compatible with the usual surfaces of special effects prosthetics, including gelatine and painted silicone. Before using it on a final piece, always do a test on a small area of the prosthetic to verify adhesion and finish.
How many applications does a 100 ml container provide?
It depends on the surface covered and the number of coats. For localised applications (forehead, neck, chest), a 100 ml container can cover several work sessions without any issue.
Does it need a fixative or sealer on top?
No. Transparent Jelly dries on its own and does not require any additional product on top to maintain the effect. Adding a fixative could kill the wet sheen that is precisely the point of the product.
