Medical-grade prosthetic adhesive with slow drying time. Strong, precise hold for silicone and latex prosthetics in SFX and character makeup.

Telesis 8S (Slow) is a medical-grade prosthetic adhesive specifically formulated for bonding silicone and latex prosthetics to skin. Its extended drying time gives you the margin you need to adjust edges and position with precision before final adhesion, achieving a strong and reliable hold throughout the entire session.

What it's used for

Telesis 8S is designed for professional makeup artists, character makeup and special effects artists who need sufficient time to work with precision when placing prosthetics. Its medical-grade formulation makes it suitable for direct skin contact during extended sessions.

  • Bonding silicone prosthetics to skin on film and television sets
  • Applying latex pieces in theatre, opera and live performances
  • Special effects (SFX) character makeup requiring fine edge adjustment
  • Long sessions at events or conventions where a strong, lasting hold is required
  • Work where the artist needs more repositioning time before final adhesion
  • Applying ultra-thin edges on prosthetics that require seamless blending on screen

How to use it

  1. Prepare the skin: thoroughly clean the application area, making sure it is completely dry and free of creams, oils or sweat. Degreasing is essential for good adhesion.
  2. Apply the adhesive: spread a thin, even layer onto the skin, onto the edge of the prosthetic, or onto both surfaces, depending on the finish you need.
  3. Wait the necessary time: allow the adhesive to reach a slightly tacky state. The slow drying gives you room to work without rushing.
  4. Place the prosthetic: position the piece, carefully adjusting edges and alignment. The Slow version allows repositioning before final adhesion.
  5. Press gently: apply even pressure from the centre outwards to eliminate bubbles and ensure complete adhesion.
  6. Allow to dry: wait for the adhesive to cure completely before applying makeup or pigments on top.
  7. Removal: use a dedicated silicone adhesive remover such as Telesis Silicone Remover or Telesis Super Solv. Peel away gradually, without sudden pulling, to protect both the skin and the prosthetic.

Usage tips

Degreasing: the step that makes all the difference

The adhesion of any prosthetic adhesive depends directly on the condition of the skin. If there is any trace of sebum, cream or sweat, the bond will be weak. On sets with studio lights or outdoors in summer, clean and degrease the area right before applying. A clean cloth with Telesis Super Solv can be your best ally as a skin prep before applying Telesis 8S.

Make the most of the slow drying time for perfect edges

The advantage of Telesis 8S over the standard version is precisely the extra working time. Use it to work the ultra-thin edges of encapsulated prosthetics, pressing with a fine-tipped brush from the inside outwards, in very light, overlapping layers. If you need greater viscosity control, Telesis 8 Thinner lets you adjust the consistency of the adhesive.

Sensitivity test and first-time use

Although Telesis 8S is medical grade, it is always advisable to perform a sensitivity test on the inner fold of the elbow 24 hours before the first application on a new model or actor. Apply a small amount, allow it to dry and observe the reaction. This step is especially important for reactive or sensitive skin types.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the Slow version and the standard version?

The main difference is working time. Telesis 8S (Slow) takes longer to reach the bonding point, giving you more time to adjust the position of the prosthetic, work fine edges and make corrections before final cure. The standard version Telesis 8 dries faster, ideal when makeup time is limited. The final adhesion strength of both versions is equivalent.

Can this adhesive be used with both latex and silicone prosthetics?

Yes. Telesis 8S is compatible with prosthetics made from both silicone and latex. It is one of the reference adhesives in the FX makeup industry precisely because of its versatility with the most common materials used in the field.

How do you remove it correctly without damaging the skin or the prosthetic?

Use a dedicated silicone adhesive remover. Telesis Silicone Remover is formulated to dissolve Telesis 8S without irritating the skin. Apply the remover along the edges, wait a few seconds for it to penetrate, and peel the prosthetic away with gentle, progressive movements — never with sudden pulling. Clean any residue with a second pass of remover.

How long does the bond last once dry?

Once cured, Telesis 8S provides a strong, durable hold suitable for long shooting sessions, live performances or events. Duration also depends on external factors such as heat, sweat or movement in the area. With proper skin preparation (clean and degreased), the adhesion remains stable throughout the entire working day.

Can the viscosity of the adhesive be thinned or modified?

Yes. If you need to reduce the viscosity to work thinner layers or apply the adhesive with a brush in delicate areas, you can use Telesis 8 Thinner, the dedicated thinner for the Telesis range. Add small amounts and mix well until you reach the desired consistency.

Is it safe for sensitive skin?

Telesis 8S is a medical-grade adhesive, meaning its formulation has been developed for contact with human skin. However, each individual may react differently. It is always advisable to carry out a prior sensitivity test on a small area before the first application on a model or actor with reactive skin.

What is the difference between this adhesive and an acrylic FX adhesive?

Silicone adhesives like Telesis 8S are particularly suited to silicone and latex prosthetics, offering excellent material compatibility. Acrylic FX adhesives, such as PROTAC, have a different formulation and may be more suitable for foam latex pieces or other specific applications. The choice depends on the prosthetic material and the type of finish you need.

Do I need any skin prep before applying the adhesive?

It is not strictly necessary, but it is highly recommended. Cleaning and degreasing the skin before applying Telesis 8S noticeably improves adhesion and the durability of the bond. Telesis Super Solv works very well for this purpose as a skin prep, removing traces of sebum, creams or previous makeup.
