What it is used for
Telesis Silicone Remover is designed specifically for FX makeup and professional character work. It allows silicone adhesives to be removed without aggression to the skin or the delicate materials used in prosthetics and character makeup:
- Removal of Telesis 8 adhesive and Telesis 8 applicator pen at the end of the day
- Removal of silicone prosthetics bonded to skin with Telesis adhesive
- Cleaning adhesive residue from silicone or latex prosthetics for reuse
- Dissolving adhesive from wig lace and postiche facial hair
- Cleaning tools and brushes used with Telesis adhesives
- Complementary makeup removal in film, television and theatre productions
How to use it
- Apply a generous amount of Telesis Silicone Remover to a cotton pad, gauze or makeup pad.
- Place the soaked cotton pad on the edge of the prosthetic or the area with adhesive and allow it to work for a few seconds so the solvent can penetrate under the adhesive.
- With gentle movements, lift the edge of the prosthetic while continuing to apply the product between the prosthetic and the skin to facilitate gradual release.
- Once the prosthetic has been removed, apply the solvent again to the skin to eliminate adhesive residue using gentle circular movements.
- Clean the contact face of the prosthetic with a cotton pad moistened with Telesis Silicone Remover to leave it ready for its next use.
- Finish with a gentle wash with soap and water if desired, although the formula is gentle enough that rinsing is not mandatory.
Usage tips
Allow it to work before pulling
The main cause of skin irritation when removing a prosthetic is forcing it off without giving the solvent time to work. Apply the product, wait 10 to 20 seconds and the adhesive will release without resistance. Never pull the prosthetic off dry.
Keep prosthetics in perfect condition
If you work with reusable silicone prosthetics, thoroughly clean the contact face with Telesis Silicone Remover after each use. Accumulated adhesive residue can compromise bonding quality in subsequent sessions and damage the finish of the piece over time.
Combine with other cleaners as needed
To remove foundation makeup from the skin once the prosthetic has been removed, you can combine Telesis Silicone Remover with Isopropyl Myristate, a gentle makeup remover ideal for sensitive skin. For deeper cleaning of character makeup areas, Fleet Street Plasma Soap is a good complementary option.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use this cleaner directly on skin without risk?
Yes. Telesis Silicone Remover is formulated specifically for skin contact. Its composition with vitamins D and E and Aloe Vera makes it very gentle and it is designed for actors and models who receive it on their skin after long working days. It does not cause irritation under normal use.
Does it work to remove any silicone adhesive?
Telesis Silicone Remover is optimised for the Telesis range of adhesives (Telesis 8, Telesis 8S, Telesis 5 and Telesis 7). It may not be equally effective with silicone adhesives of other formulations. For adhesives with a different base, consult Telesis Super Solv Plus, which has a broader dissolution profile.
Does it damage silicone or latex prosthetics when cleaning them?
No. Telesis Silicone Remover is designed to be compatible with silicone and latex prosthetics. It does not deteriorate the material or affect the painted finish of pieces when used in the correct amount and with gentle movements.
Can I use it to clean wig lace with adhesive?
Yes, it is one of its common uses in production. Apply the product with a fine brush or cotton swab to the area of the lace with adhesive and wait a few seconds before cleaning gently. It does not damage the lace fibre.
Does it have a strong smell like other solvents?
No. Telesis Silicone Remover is odourless, making it especially comfortable to work with in enclosed spaces, recording studios or backstage areas where ventilation may be limited. This is a significant advantage over conventional solvents.
Do I need to rinse with water after using it?
It is not mandatory. The non-oily formula leaves no greasy residue on the skin. If desired, you can follow up with a gentle wash with soap and water, but it is not necessary for effective cleaning.
What is the difference between this product and Telesis Super Solv Plus?
Telesis Silicone Remover is formulated for direct skin contact, with caring ingredients such as vitamins and Aloe Vera. Telesis Super Solv Plus is a higher-strength solvent, more oriented towards cleaning tools, surfaces and situations where skin gentleness is not a priority.
