What it's used for
Telesis Super Solv is designed for daily use in special effects makeup and prosthetics. It is the go-to tool when you need to remove adhesives at the end of a shoot without damaging materials or irritating the actor's skin.
- Removal of Telesis silicone adhesive residue from skin
- Removal of silicone and latex foam prosthetics without damaging the piece
- Cleaning of Skin Illustrator makeup and alcohol-based pigments
- Maintenance and cleaning of lace wigs without damaging the mesh
- Removal of adhesives from sensitive skin areas (eyelids, neck, forehead)
- Cleaning tools and work surfaces with adhesive residue
How to use it
- Soak a cotton pad, gauze, or flat brush with a moderate amount of Telesis Super Solv.
- Apply to the edge of the prosthetic or adhesive area and allow a few seconds for the solvent to penetrate under the prosthetic.
- Using gentle movements from the edge towards the centre, gradually lift the prosthetic without pulling abruptly.
- Once the piece is removed, pass a new soaked cotton pad over the skin to dissolve any remaining adhesive.
- Clean the inner face of the prosthetic with Super Solv and allow it to air dry before storing.
- Finish cleaning the skin with water and mild soap or with Isopropyl Myristate to remove any hydrocarbon traces.
Tips for use
Right amount, clean result
There is no need to saturate the area. A small amount applied carefully to the edge of the prosthetic is enough for Super Solv to do its job. Using too much can saturate the latex foam and extend the drying time of the piece.
Cleaning and preservation of prosthetics
After removing the prosthetic, always clean its inner face with Super Solv and a soft brush. Accumulated hardened adhesive residue makes adhesion more difficult in subsequent uses and can deform the piece over time. Store prosthetics clean and dry to extend their lifespan.
Combining with other cleaners
For very sensitive skin or light maintenance cleaning, Isopropyl Myristate is a gentler alternative. If you work with high-strength silicone adhesives, consider Telesis Silicone Remover, specifically formulated for cured silicone adhesives. For jobs requiring even more removal power, Telesis Super Solv Plus is also available.
Frequently asked questions
Is it safe to use this type of remover directly on the skin?
Telesis Super Solv is formulated for use on skin and is the standard on film and television sets. However, avoid prolonged contact with the skin and contact with eyes and mucous membranes. After use, wash the area thoroughly with water and soap or apply Isopropyl Myristate to remove any residue.
Does it damage latex foam or silicone prosthetics when used to clean them?
No. Telesis Super Solv is specifically formulated not to damage latex foam or silicone. This is one of its key strengths over generic solvents, which can deteriorate these materials over time.
Can it be used on lace wigs without damaging the mesh?
Yes. It is one of the most common uses in the industry. Super Solv dissolves adhesive bonded to the lace mesh without weakening or distorting the fibres. Apply it carefully with a fine brush to avoid over-saturating.
What is the difference between this product and the Plus version?
Telesis Super Solv Plus offers greater removal power for particularly resistant adhesives or situations where faster dissolution is needed. Telesis Super Solv is the standard option and sufficient for most everyday SFX makeup applications.
Does it work for removing alcohol-based makeup?
Yes. Telesis Super Solv effectively removes Skin Illustrator makeup and other alcohol-based pigments widely used in special effects, leaving skin clean without the need for excessive rubbing.
How much product is needed per session?
It depends on the extent of the work. For a full facial prosthetic, between 5 and 10 ml is usually sufficient. The 473 ml format is the most cost-effective for ongoing professional use; the 236 ml is ideal for a travel kit or smaller set.
How do you clean the Telesis silicone adhesive applicator?
The Telesis 8 applicator pen and brushes used to apply silicone adhesives should be cleaned with Super Solv or Telesis Silicone Remover before the adhesive fully cures. Once cured, cleaning becomes considerably more difficult.
Is it flammable? What precautions should be taken?
As it is hydrocarbon-based, Telesis Super Solv may be flammable. Always use it in well-ventilated spaces, away from flames, sparks, or heat sources. Close the container tightly after each use and store it in a cool, dry place.
