Professional 28 cm fibreglass scissor with two-tone red-black curved handle and non-slip grip, suitable for both right- and left-handed users.

The 28 cm fibreglass scissor is the reference cutting tool for lamination workshops. Its long blade and specific geometry allow you to cut fibreglass mat, woven fabric and reinforcement blankets with precision and without fraying the reinforcement. The two-tone red-black curved handle ensures a firm, comfortable grip for both right- and left-handed users, even during long working sessions.

What it is used for

This scissor is specifically designed for cutting textile reinforcements in hand lamination and composite processes. Its 28 cm size makes it the most versatile option when you need to cut large pieces or make long, continuous cuts without losing control.

  • Cutting 300 g/m² fibreglass mat for polyester resin laminates
  • Trimming fibreglass woven fabric for complex geometry parts
  • Preparing reinforcements in bodywork repair, marine and industrial parts workshops
  • Cutting fibre blankets in infusion and hand lamination processes
  • Preparing reinforcement patterns and templates before lamination

How to use it

  1. Lay the blanket or fabric on a flat, clean surface before cutting.
  2. Mark the outline of the part with chalk or a soluble marker if you need precision on the contour.
  3. Hold the fabric with your free hand to prevent it from shifting during cutting.
  4. Insert the full blade and make long, continuous cuts, making the most of the entire blade length for a clean finish.
  5. For tight curves, orient the curved handle in the direction of the turn and make short, controlled cuts.
  6. Clean the blade after use if it has come into contact with fresh resin, before it cures.

Usage tips

Keep the blade free of resin

If you use the scissor during the lamination process and the blade brushes against already-impregnated areas, clean it immediately with acetone or a suitable solvent. Cured resin on the blade hampers cutting and can damage the edge with continued use.

Always cut before impregnating

The recommended workshop practice is to cut all reinforcements to size before starting to apply the resin. This way you work with clean hands and the scissor does not come into contact with the catalysed system. For subsequent lamination, use the reinforcements with a lamination roller to eliminate bubbles and compact the fabric properly.

Adapt it to different fibres

This scissor is ideal for fibreglass in mat and woven fabric. If you regularly work with carbon fibre, Kevlar or aramid, consider complementing your equipment with the special scissor for carbon, Kevlar and aramid, whose edge is designed for high cut-resistance reinforcements.

Frequently asked questions

Can this scissor cut carbon fibre fabric?

This scissor is optimised for fibreglass in mat and woven fabric. For carbon fibre fabric, Kevlar or aramid, the specific scissor for these materials is recommended, as their fibres are more abrasive and require a harder steel.

Can I use it if I am left-handed?

Yes. The curved handle of this scissor is designed to be comfortable for both right- and left-handed users, making it a valid tool for any workshop operator without the need for different models.

How many layers of mat can I cut at once?

It depends on the mat weight. For 300 g/m² mat it is common to cut 2–3 layers simultaneously without losing precision. With more layers the cut becomes less clean and the strain on the wrist increases. It is recommended not to force the edge in order to extend its service life.

What type of fibre is most commonly used with polyester resin?

For polyester resin laminates, the most common choice is 300 g/m² fibreglass mat. If you need greater mechanical strength you can combine mat with fibreglass woven fabric and finish with a veil to improve the sealing and aesthetics of the part.

How do I know which fabric is right for my laminate?

The choice of reinforcement depends on the resin system, the process (hand lamination, infusion, prepreg) and the required mechanical properties. If you have any doubts, the Feroca technical team can advise you directly on 916 000 250.

Do I need any additional tools to laminate with fibreglass?

For a correct laminate you will need, in addition to the scissor, a lamination roller to impregnate the fabric and a metal deaeration roller to eliminate bubbles between layers and ensure compaction of the laminate.

How do you clean and maintain the scissor?

Clean the blade after each use with a rag soaked in acetone if it has come into contact with fresh resin. Once dry, apply a few drops of light oil to the pivot to keep the cut smooth. Store it protected to avoid knocks to the edge.
