What it is used for
The Brow Palette is designed for precision work on the eyebrow area, but its versatility makes it useful in any situation where you need to match or model skin tone with maximum resistance:
- Filling in sparse eyebrows or hairless areas
- Creating eyebrows from scratch on silicone or latex prosthetics
- Redefining or reshaping the eyebrow line in artistic and character makeup
- Concealing natural eyebrows before applying facial prosthetics
- Retouching edges of silicone prosthetics in special effects
- Blending with other Skin Illustrator palettes to create custom colour combinations
- Painting over hair implants (punching) on finished prosthetics with rooting needles
How to use it
- Make sure the surface (skin, silicone or latex) is clean, dry and free of grease or residue.
- Activate the chosen colour by touching the pan surface with a few drops of Isopropyl Alcohol 99.9%, Skin Illustrator Activator or Slow Activator. Never use 70° alcohol, acetone, MEK or water.
- Pick up the activated colour with a fine brush, a makeup sponge or a mascara wand depending on the effect you are looking for.
- Apply short, precise strokes following the natural direction of the hair to simulate individual hairs, or fill the area evenly according to the desired result.
- Allow to dry between layers before adding more intensity. Coverage increases with successive layers.
- Mix colours directly on the palette or on the surface to adjust the tone to the client's skin.
- To remove the makeup, use Telesis Super Solv or Telesis Makeup Remover with gentle movements.
Usage tips
Cracks and bubbles in the pans: not a defect
It is common for the colour pans in the Skin Illustrator Brow Palette to show cracks, bubbles or a shrunken appearance when dry. This is precisely due to the high pigment concentration and the absence of fillers in the formulation. It does not affect the quality or performance of the product in any way.
Intensity control through activation level
The amount of activator you apply determines the consistency of the colour: with little activator you will get a denser, more opaque paste, ideal for full coverage; with more activator, the colour becomes more fluid and transparent, perfect for glazing and natural effects. Always test on your hand before applying to the client or prosthetic.
Mixing with other Skin Illustrator palettes
The colours in the Brow Palette are fully compatible with the rest of the Skin Illustrator range. Combine them with the Flesh Tone Palette, the Complexion Palette or the Dark Fleshtone Palette to fine-tune the exact shade you need. Mixing is done directly on the palette or on the skin with the brush dampened with activator.
Frequently asked questions
What is used to activate these alcohol-activated makeups?
The Skin Illustrator Brow Palette is activated with Skin Illustrator Activator, Skin Illustrator Slow Activator or with isopropyl alcohol at 99.9%. It is essential to use high-purity isopropyl alcohol: 70° alcohol contains too much water and does not activate the colour correctly, giving uneven results and poor adhesion.
Can it be used on silicone or latex prosthetics?
Yes. The Skin Illustrator Brow Palette is formulated to adhere to both natural skin and silicone and latex. It is one of the most widely used options in the special effects sector precisely because of its compatibility with prosthetic materials.
How long does the makeup last once applied?
Once dry and with the activator properly evaporated, Skin Illustrator alcohol makeup offers notable resistance to sweat and friction. For shoots or long days, it is recommended to set with a specific sealer and avoid contact with oils or creams.
How is alcohol-activated makeup removed?
The manufacturer recommends Telesis Super Solv or Telesis Makeup Remover for clean removal without irritation. isopropyl alcohol at 99.9% can also help dissolve the colour, although specific removers are more effective and gentler on the skin.
Can the colours be mixed with each other or with other palettes?
Yes, all colours in the Skin Illustrator range are compatible with each other. You can mix the shades from the Brow Palette with those from the Flesh Tone Palette, the Complexion Palette, the Dark Fleshtone Palette or the FX Palette to achieve any custom shade.
Do cracks or bubbles in the palette mean the product is in poor condition?
No. Cracks, bubbles or the shrunken appearance that may appear in dry pans are a normal characteristic resulting from the high pigment concentration and the absence of fillers. They do not affect the performance, coverage or durability of the product.
Is this palette suitable for wig work and punched hair?
Yes. The Brow Palette is an excellent option for painting and toning areas with hair implanted using rooting needles on silicone prosthetics, as the colour adheres well to both the hair and the surrounding silicone base, unifying the result.
What is the difference between this palette and the other Skin Illustrator palettes?
The Brow Palette specifically includes five skin tones designed for eyebrow work and small precision touch-ups. Other palettes in the range, such as the Flesh Tone or the Complexion, offer a wider range to cover larger areas or full character makeup work.
