What it's used for

Telesis 8 Brush-On is designed for FX makeup professionals, special effects artists and theatrical and film prosthetics technicians who need reliable, precise and long-lasting adhesion on set or on stage. Its brush-on format allows full control when working on fine edges and transition zones.

  • Bonding silicone prosthetics to skin (foreheads, noses, ears, cheeks)
  • Securing latex pieces in special effects makeup
  • Adhering delicate edges around eyes and mouth
  • Sealing lace and transitions on high-definition prosthetics
  • Bonding PTM transfers and transfer materials to skin
  • Use in theatre, television, film and live events where maximum durability is required

How to use it

  1. Thoroughly clean and degrease the area of skin where you will apply the prosthetic. Any trace of grease or moisture will reduce adhesion.
  2. Make sure the silicone or latex prosthetic is also clean and free of release agents or residues.
  3. Apply a thin, even layer of Telesis 8 Brush-On to the skin using the included brush or a flat synthetic-hair brush.
  4. Allow the adhesive to activate for 30 to 60 seconds, until it becomes slightly tacky but not wet.
  5. Press the prosthetic firmly onto the skin for a few seconds to ensure full contact.
  6. If you need more working time, add a few drops of Telesis 8 Thinner to slow the set time and gain repositionability.
  7. Once placed, seal and paint the edges with the finishing products standard to your workflow.

Usage tips

Set time control

The brush-on formula sets faster than the tube format. If you are working on large areas or with oversized prosthetics, mix the adhesive with Telesis 8 Thinner directly on the palette before applying. This will give you a working time similar to Telesis 5 without compromising final adhesion.

Thin layers, better results

Do not over-apply. A thin, well-spread layer gives better adhesion than a thick one. If the piece is very porous (old latex, open-cell foam), apply a first primer coat, allow to dry fully, then apply a second coat before placing the prosthetic.

High-movement areas

In areas such as the lips, nasal wings or eyelids, apply adhesive both to the skin and to the back of the prosthetic (contact technique). This doubles the bonding surface and significantly improves the durability of the adhesion during performance or filming.

Important notice — Skin-contact adhesive: Although Telesis 8 is medical grade, always perform a patch test on a small area of skin before full use, especially on sensitive skin. Avoid contact with eyes. In case of irritation, remove with the appropriate solvent and consult a healthcare professional. Keep out of reach of children.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the brush-on version and the tube version?

The brush-on version of Telesis 8 comes in a bottle with an integrated brush, allowing more controlled and precise application on fine edges, eye contours and hard-to-reach areas. The tube version (Telesis 8 in tube) is more practical for large surfaces and quick applications. The adhesive formula is equivalent.

Is it safe to use this adhesive directly on skin?

Yes. Telesis 8 is a medical-grade adhesive formulated specifically for use on skin. It is routinely used in professional film, television and theatre productions. Even so, a patch test is recommended for sensitive or reactive skin types.

Does it work with all types of prosthetic silicones?

Telesis 8 bonds very well to platinum (addition-cure) silicones such as those used in high-definition prosthetics, as well as to latex pieces. For prosthetics encapsulated with materials such as PTM Clear or PTM Light Flesh, results are also excellent.

What is Telesis 8 Thinner used for?

Telesis 8 Thinner is used to slow the set time of the adhesive, giving you more working time. It is especially useful when working on large pieces, in high ambient heat conditions, or when you need to reposition the prosthetic before the adhesive cures fully.

How is this adhesive removed from skin?

Telesis 8 is removed with the specific solvent recommended for medical-grade silicone adhesives. Apply the solvent with a brush or cotton pad along the edges of the prosthetic, allow a few seconds for it to penetrate under the piece, then carefully lift without pulling sharply. Never tear the prosthetic off dry.

Can I use this adhesive with foam latex prosthetics?

Yes. Telesis 8 is compatible with latex and foam latex. On porous foam pieces, apply a primer coat, allow to dry completely, then apply a second coat before placing the prosthetic to improve adhesion on the porous surface.

What is the difference between the fast set, slow set and matte lace formulas?

The fast-set formula is ideal for situations where time is limited and placement must be precise from the first moment. The slow-set formula gives more time to adjust and reposition. The matte lace formula is designed for very fine lace or mesh transition pieces, providing a matte finish that makes subsequent makeup application easier.

Can it be used alongside other FX makeup adhesives?

In general, Telesis 8 is used independently for silicone and latex prosthetics. For lighter FX makeup applications or bonding elements to skin without the need for silicone prosthetics, products such as PROTAC may be a simpler alternative. Always check compatibility between products before combining adhesive systems.
