Telesis 8F (Fast) is a fast-drying, medical-grade silicone adhesive designed to bond silicone and latex prosthetics in FX makeup and facial prosthetic applications. What it is used for
Telesis 8F is the industry reference solution for FX makeup and facial prosthetics, bonding flexible appliances directly to skin. Its reduced working time makes it especially useful on set, at live shows, and in situations where preparation time is limited.
- Bonding silicone and latex prosthetics to face and body
- Adhering appliances in delicate areas: eye contours, mouth corners, forehead and neck
- Adhesion of wig lace and postiche facial hair
- Professional FX makeup for film, television and theatre
- Medical and prosthetic use where medical grade is required
- Quick correction and re-sealing of edges during filming
How to use it
- Clean and degrease the skin in the application area. The skin must be free of sweat, creams and oils.
- If you want to further reduce drying time, mix Telesis 8F with Telesis 8 Thinner until you reach the desired viscosity.
- Apply a thin, even layer of adhesive to both the inner surface of the prosthetic and the corresponding area of skin.
- Wait until the adhesive becomes translucent and slightly tacky to the touch (not wet).
- Carefully position the prosthetic and press firmly for a few seconds to activate the pressure-sensitive bond.
- Blend the edges with your usual finishing product and proceed with colour makeup.
- To remove the prosthetic, use Telesis Silicone Remover, applying it gently along the edges to dissolve the adhesive without damaging the piece or the skin.
Usage tips
Controlling drying time
Telesis 8F is already fast on its own, but if you need to adjust the working time to set conditions (temperature, humidity or application area), mix it with Telesis 8 Thinner. The higher the thinner ratio, the closer the adhesive behaves to Telesis 5. Avoid overdoing it: too much thinner reduces the final bond strength.
Problem areas: eyes and mouth
Periorbital and perioral areas concentrate the greatest facial expression activity and accumulate sweat, sebaceous oil and continuous movement. For these areas, apply very thin coats and allow each one to dry completely before positioning the prosthetic. On sets with high-powered lights, reinforce the perimeter with a second pass before the final makeup.
Storage and brush cleaning
Close the container immediately after each use to prevent the formula from thickening due to solvent evaporation. To clean application brushes, use Telesis Silicone Remover itself or a compatible silicone-based solvent. Do not use water or isopropyl alcohol, as they do not effectively dissolve silicone adhesive.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between this adhesive and the standard version?
The 8F (Fast) version is formulated to dry faster than the standard Telesis 8. When mixed with Telesis 8 Thinner, its working time is shortened to levels similar to Telesis 5, making it the preferred option when preparation time is a critical factor on set.
Is it safe for sensitive skin or use around the eyes?
Telesis 8F is a medical-grade adhesive tested by independent laboratories for dermal irritation and inhalation levels. It contains no known carcinogens, reproductive toxins or cytotoxins. It is specifically designed for use in periorbital and perioral areas. For very reactive skin types, a patch test is recommended beforehand.
Does it damage silicone or latex prosthetics?
No. Telesis 8F is formulated to be compatible with silicone and latex prosthetics. It does not degrade or stain the prosthetic material, allowing pieces to be reused across multiple productions.
How is the adhesive removed from skin and from the prosthetic?
The recommended removal product is Telesis Silicone Remover. Its fragrance-free formula, enriched with vitamins D and E and Aloe Vera, dissolves the adhesive quickly without damaging the skin, the prosthetic, or wig lace and postiche hair. Apply it along the edges with a brush or cotton swab and wait a few seconds before lifting the piece.
Can it be used to bond non-FX appliances (wounds, scars, character makeups)?
Yes. Any silicone or latex appliance that needs to be bonded to skin can be adhered with Telesis 8F: scars, wounds, facial reshaping, character makeups, encapsulated age makeups, etc.
What other adhesives at Feroca are compatible with FX makeup prosthetics?
Feroca offers several options depending on the type of application. For silicone and latex prosthetics, the Telesis range is the most comprehensive. For acrylic appliances or when a different formula is needed, PROTAC Adhesivo acrílico para maquillaje FX is another alternative available in the catalogue.
What other materials do I need for a complete FX prosthetic?
For professional FX work, in addition to the adhesive you will need: a platinum silicone to manufacture the prosthetic, an encapsulant for the edges, pigments and paints for colour, and modelling tools. Feroca stocks all of these materials in its FX makeup and special effects catalogue.
