DC 732 Transparent is a one-component condensation silicone formulated as a high-consistency adhesive and sealant. Its higher density compared to DC 734 makes it especially useful for repairs where the material needs to stay in place without sagging: cracks in silicone moulds, breaks in finished pieces such as masks, prosthetics or special effects, and any bond between flexible substrates. It cures with ambient moisture and requires no component B.

What it is used for

DC 732 is designed for the moulding, special effects and prosthetics workshop. Its dense texture allows precise, controlled application where a more fluid product would sag. Use it to:

  • Repair cracks, tears and breaks in existing silicone moulds.
  • Bond and glue finished silicone pieces: masks, prosthetics, encapsulations.
  • Seal joints or seams in silicone pieces for special effects.
  • Reinforce thin or fragile areas of a mould before continuing production.
  • Bond silicone to silicone in multilayer constructions or emergency repairs.
  • Fix inserts or rigid pieces onto flexible silicone substrates.

How to use it

  1. Clean and dry the surfaces to be bonded or repaired thoroughly. Remove any release agent residue, dust or grease with a clean cloth. If necessary, use naphtha to degrease.
  2. Open the container and apply a layer of DC 732 directly onto the repair area or onto one of the two surfaces to be bonded. The consistency is high: it does not sag and can be shaped with a spatula.
  3. If bonding two pieces, apply the adhesive, bring the surfaces together and maintain pressure for a few minutes until the material begins to grip.
  4. Leave to cure at room temperature. Atmospheric moisture activates the process. Under normal conditions (50–60% relative humidity), the surface begins to cure in 15–30 minutes and reaches full cure in 24 hours.
  5. If you need to increase viscosity for vertical or overhead applications, add Thixo Additive and mix well before applying.
  6. To colour the repair so it blends visually with the piece, add silicone pigments before application.
  7. Once cured, any excess can be trimmed with a craft knife or scalpel.

Usage tips

Difference from DC 734

The DC 734 is more fluid and better suited to narrow joints or applications where the silicone needs to penetrate. DC 732 is denser and naturally thixotropic, ideal when you need the material to stay exactly where you put it without flowing. Choose DC 732 for volumetric repairs and DC 734 for fine sealing and penetration into narrow cracks.

Accelerating cure

In dry environments or in thick layers where ambient moisture takes time to penetrate, curing may be slower than expected. You can speed up the process by applying a little moisture to the surface with a water mister before or during curing. You can also use the Curing Agent 81 VF if you need faster setting.

Container storage

DC 732 cures with atmospheric moisture: always close the container tightly immediately after each use. If the product begins to cure inside the tube or nozzle, remove the cured part and the rest remains usable. Store the product in a cool, dry place away from heat sources. Once opened, use it as soon as possible.

Frequently asked questions

Can I repair a silicone mould with this adhesive and continue using the mould?

Yes. DC 732 is specifically formulated for that purpose. Once cured, the material is flexible and compatible with the mould silicone. Make sure the repair has fully cured (minimum 24 hours) before using the mould again, and apply release agent as usual.

How long does it take to cure completely?

Under normal temperature conditions (20–25 °C) and 50–60% relative humidity, the surface is tack-free in 15–30 minutes. Full through-cure is reached in approximately 24 hours. In very thick layers or in dry environments it may take longer.

Can it be pigmented so the repair is less visible?

Yes. You can add silicone pigments or Key-Pigments for FX directly to the DC 732 before applying it. This allows you to match the colour of the original piece and achieve an almost invisible repair.

Does it bond silicone to materials other than silicone?

DC 732 adheres well to silicone, glass, metal and some plastics. Adhesion to porous surfaces such as wood or foam is lower. For difficult substrates, prior cleaning with solvent and a suitable primer will improve results.

Can it be used as a sealant as well as an adhesive?

Yes. Its high consistency makes it especially useful for sealing joints, seams and areas exposed to movement in silicone pieces or between flexible materials. It cures to form an elastic, long-lasting layer.

Does DC 732 need to be mixed with a catalyst?

No. It is a one-component product: no mixing with component B is required. It cures solely with ambient moisture. If you need to accelerate curing, you can use Curing Agent 81 VF as an accelerator.

What is the difference between this product and a two-component silicone for repairs?

Two-component silicones require mixing, exact ratios and usually have a limited working time. DC 732 is ready to use: open, apply and close. Ideal for quick workshop repairs, production touch-ups, or whenever you need a silicone adhesive always on hand with no prior preparation.

Can it be made more fluid or thicker for different applications?

To increase viscosity and prevent flow in vertical applications, add Thixo Additive. The thixotropic additive only modifies consistency, not cure time. To make it more fluid, thinning with solvents is not recommended; if you need lower viscosity, DC 734 is the natural alternative.
