FOAM CAPSULES
32,67 € Tax incl.
Foam capsules are edible capsules filled with gelatin that, when chewed, generate a convincing white foam inside and around the mouth. They are the fastest and cleanest resource for simulating seizures, poisoning or horror effects on film sets, theatre and FX makeup without the need for any additional tools.

What they are used for
Foam capsules are designed exclusively for special effects inside the mouth. They are an industry standard in FX makeup for film, television and theatre thanks to their ease of use, realistic results and complete safety for the performer.
- Simulation of epileptic seizures in audiovisual productions
- Poisoning or agony effects for film, TV series and short films
- Zombie, demon and creature makeup with mouth foam
- Horror or thriller scenes requiring a believable physical reaction
- Theatre applications and live performances
- Music video shoots or horror genre photography projects
How to use them
- Remove the capsule from the pack and check that it is intact and dry.
- Place it in the mouth just before the take or the scene moment.
- Chew it: saliva in contact with the gelatin and active components generates the white foam immediately.
- Distribute the foam with your tongue and lips to achieve the desired visual effect inside and around the mouth.
- Once the take is finished, you can swallow safely: the capsules are stomach-soluble.
- If you need to repeat the scene, use a new capsule from the pack.
Usage tips
Timing on set
Activate the capsule at the exact right moment: once chewed, the foam has a limited duration before dissolving. Coordinate with the director on the action cue so the performer chews just before the camera starts rolling. For longer scenes or multi-angle shoots, plan the number of capsules needed and have them ready and accessible on set.
Correct storage
Moisture is the main enemy of these capsules. Store them in a dry place, at room temperature, with the packaging tightly sealed. If you are working outdoors in high humidity or tropical climates, keep the pack in an airtight bag until the moment of use. A pack in poor condition may result in capsules sticking together or activating prematurely.
Combining with other FX effects
For complex makeup scenes, foam capsules work very well combined with wound makeup, silicone prosthetics or Fleet Street DirtWorks dirt and texture powders to add a sickly or degraded look to the character. The final result gains in believability when facial expression and the mouth effect are worked on simultaneously.
Frequently asked questions
Are they safe to swallow?
Yes. Foam capsules are formulated with edible ingredients and are stomach-soluble, so they can be swallowed without any issue. However, if the user has allergies to any of the ingredients (gelatin, sodium bicarbonate, citric acid, sucrose, rice starch or sodium lauryl sulfate), they should avoid use or consult a medical specialist before using them.
How long does the foam last once activated?
The foam generated by the capsules has a relatively short duration: it is usually most effective during the first few seconds after chewing. It is therefore essential to synchronise activation with the exact moment of filming or performance. If you need to maintain the effect for longer, you can use several capsules in succession.
Can they be used with minors?
The capsules are intended for professional use in FX makeup. If used with minors, the set or show supervisor must verify the ingredients, ensure there are no allergies, and supervise use at all times. Unsupervised use by young children is not recommended.
Can they be used outside the mouth, on skin?
Foam capsules are designed specifically for use inside the mouth. They are not formulated for direct application on skin or to simulate foam on external surfaces. For foam or texture effects on skin or materials, other products from the FX range are more suitable.
How do I prevent the capsules from activating before use?
Moisture is the main factor that can deteriorate the capsules or activate them prematurely. Always store them in a dry place with the packaging tightly sealed. On outdoor shoots or in humid environments, keep them in an airtight bag until the moment of use. Never handle them with wet hands.
How many capsules do I need per scene?
It depends on the number of planned takes. The standard approach is to calculate one capsule per take plus a reserve margin. The pack of 10 units is sufficient for most short sequences. For shoots with many retakes or multiple performers, it is advisable to have several packs available.
Do they have an expiry date?
Like any edible-based product, foam capsules have a limited shelf life. Always check the expiry date indicated on the packaging and do not use capsules that are deteriorated, damp or altered in appearance. Correct storage in a dry, cool place extends their shelf life.
Are they suitable for vegans?
No. Their ingredients include animal-derived gelatin. People following a vegan or vegetarian diet who need to avoid animal by-products should not use them.
