What it is used for

This paste is designed to give three-dimensionality and body to blood effects in professional character makeup. The lymphatic tone is especially useful for simulating serous fluids, wounds in early stages, blisters or any effect requiring a pale and viscous liquid. It can be used alone or combined with Fleet Street Drying Blood Fresh or Fleet Street Drying Blood Dark to achieve more complex chromatic and textural combinations.

  • Simulation of lymphatic fluid in open wounds
  • Creation of blisters and burns with serous fluid
  • Filling cavities in latex or silicone prosthetics
  • Combination with liquid bloods for realistic colour gradients
  • Coagulation and scarring effects at different stages
  • Special effects makeup for film, television and theatre
  • Character makeup work in long-duration workshops and shoots

How to use it

  1. Prepare the application area: make sure the skin or prosthetic is clean, dry and free of any grease residue.
  2. Extract the required amount of paste directly from the container using a spatula or applicator.
  3. Apply the paste to the desired area, shaping it with your fingers, a spatula or a silicone brush to achieve the shape and volume you need.
  4. If you want to blend tones, combine this paste with the Pasta Fleet Street Blood in Blood tone or the Pasta Fleet Street Blood in Scab tone directly on the working area.
  5. To add fluidity to the effect, apply Fleet Street Drying Blood Fresh or Fleet Street Drying Blood Dark on top or around it, depending on the wound state you want to represent.
  6. Allow to dry to the touch. The paste will stay in place without shifting.
  7. Fine-tune the final result with Skin Illustrator colours if you need to tone down or blend the effect with the base makeup.

Usage tips

Work in layers for greater realism

Real wounds have chromatic depth: they are not a single colour. Apply the lymphatic paste first in the innermost or deepest areas, then add the Blood tone paste towards the edges. Finish with a few drops of fresh liquid blood to give the illusion of active flow. The contrast between the fixed paste and the dripping liquid is what generates the realism.

Temperature and application tools

In cold environments, the paste may stiffen and become harder to work with. Warm it briefly between your fingers before applying. For very precise work in small areas, a fine-tipped brush or a ball-tipped silicone spatula will give you more control than your fingers. Avoid applying layers that are too thick at once: it is better to build up the volume in two or three passes.

Compatibility with prosthetics and surfaces

This paste works well both on bare skin and on latex, silicone or foam latex prosthetics. If applying it over a prosthetic, make sure it is already adhered and made up before adding the blood effects. As it dries to the touch, the paste does not stain costumes with the same risk as liquids, but take care with sudden movements on porous surfaces.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a blood paste and a liquid blood?

Blood paste has a semi-solid consistency that allows it to hold its shape and volume where applied, without flowing. A liquid blood runs and creates natural drips, but does not provide body or three-dimensional texture. Fleet Street Blood Paste in lymphatic tone is designed to build up the volume of the effect, while Fleet Street Drying Bloods are used to add fluidity and movement on top.

Does the paste stain clothing or props?

As it dries to the touch, Fleet Street Blood Paste in lymphatic tone reduces the risk of transfer onto fabrics compared to liquids. That said, prolonged contact or pressure on porous materials may leave a mark. If costumes are to be reused, protect them with plastic sheeting or apply the blood effects as the very last step before shooting.

Can it be used directly on skin?

Yes. The paste is formulated for use in character makeup directly on skin. If you have sensitive skin or will be working on a large area for many hours, always perform a patch test beforehand. Remove it with warm water and mild soap or with a suitable makeup remover.

How long does the effect last once applied?

Once dry, the paste holds its position throughout an entire shooting day without the need for frequent touch-ups. If combined with liquid bloods on top, it may be necessary to touch up the liquid areas between takes, but the base paste remains stable.

Can the different paste tones be mixed together?

Yes, that is one of the great advantages of the range. You can mix the lymphatic paste with the Blood tone paste or the Scab tone paste to achieve colour transitions and intermediate wound states: fresh, coagulating or already scarring over.

How is the paste removed once the work is finished?

On skin, remove it with warm water and soap, or with an alcohol-free makeup remover. On prosthetics, carefully remove it mechanically with a spatula before cleaning the surface. Avoid rubbing dry, as this may spread the pigment.

How much paste is needed for a medium-sized wound effect?

For a medium-sized wound (3–5 cm), the 45 ml container provides enough material for several applications. The exact amount depends on the volume and depth of the effect you want to build. When working in thin layers, the yield is very good.

Is it necessary to use a primer or base before applying the paste?

It is not essential, but if applying it over a silicone or latex prosthetic, make sure the surface is degreased and made up with its corresponding base before adding the blood effects. On clean, dry skin it adheres without any additional preparation.
