What it is used for
Sangre F/X is designed for any professional or hobbyist who needs to simulate blood quickly, safely and realistically. Its light blood tone and glossy finish make it especially useful for depicting a fresh wound or active bleeding.
- Special effects makeup on film and TV shoots
- Character makeup in theatre and stage productions
- Blood effects for Halloween, horror events and escape rooms
- Artistic makeup and character competition looks
- Dark or gore-themed editorial fashion photography
- Complement for wound and scar prosthetics made in skin-safe silicone
- First aid simulations and visual medical training
How to use it
- Prepare the application area: make sure the skin is clean and free of greasy creams to improve adhesion.
- Apply Sangre F/X directly with the bottle applicator, a fine brush or your fingers depending on the desired effect.
- Shape the blood with natural movements before it dries to achieve the flow or pooling you are looking for.
- Allow to dry for a few moments. Once dry, the blood sets with a glossy appearance and is resistant to light rubbing.
- To build up layers and add depth, apply a second coat over the first dry layer.
- When finished, remove with warm water and soap using gentle rubbing. On fabrics, wash before the blood dries completely to make removal easier.
Tips for use
Combine tones for greater realism
The light blood tone of Sangre F/X is perfect for fresh, glossy blood. If you need to simulate darker, coagulated or dried blood, combine it with Fleet Street Drying Blood Dark to achieve a more believable gradation. Applying the dark blood first as a base and Sangre F/X at the edges delivers a very convincing result in close-up shots.
Work over silicone prosthetics
Sangre F/X integrates perfectly over wound and scar prosthetics made from skin-safe silicone. Apply it into the cracks and relief areas of the prosthetic to bring the effect to life. If you want a thicker consistency and clotting build-up, combine it with Pasta Fleet Street Blood, which holds its shape without running.
Take care with delicate fabrics
Although Sangre F/X washes out of most fabrics, on very delicate or natural-fibre materials act quickly: remove any residue before it dries completely to prevent the stain from setting. Always do a test on a hidden section of the fabric before using it on valuable costumes.
Frequently asked questions
Is artificial blood safe to apply directly on skin?
Yes. Sangre F/X is formulated to be safe for use on skin. However, if you have particularly sensitive or atopic skin, we recommend doing a patch test on a small area before applying it to larger areas.
How long does it take to dry and how long does it stay in place without running?
Sangre F/X dries on skin within a few minutes. Once dry, it is resistant to light rubbing and does not run. However, excessive sweating or contact with water can soften it, so during intense action scenes it is worth reapplying between takes if needed.
What is the difference between liquid blood and blood paste?
Liquid blood such as Sangre F/X flows naturally, making it ideal for simulating blood that drips or spreads. Pasta Fleet Street Blood has a higher viscosity and holds its shape where applied, making it perfect for clots, wounds with pooling or thicker, darker blood effects.
Can it be used on clothing and props, not just on skin?
Yes. Sangre F/X works on skin, textiles and many prop surfaces. On fabrics, wash off any residue with cold water and soap before it dries completely. On non-porous surfaces it tends to sit more superficially and is easier to remove.
What is the exact tone of this blood? Are there darker versions?
Sangre F/X has a light blood tone — glossy and vivid, ideal for simulating fresh blood. If you need a darker tone or a drying blood effect, you can use Fleet Street Drying Blood Fresh or Fleet Street Drying Blood Dark depending on the effect you are going for.
How can I create a realistic wound prosthetic to use with fake blood?
The standard process involves sculpting the wound shape in clay, making a silicone mould of that sculpture and casting skin-safe silicone into the mould. Once demoulded and painted with pigments, apply Sangre F/X along the edges and inside the wound to complete the effect. This is a common technique in professional special effects makeup.
How much product is in the bottle and how many applications does it cover?
The bottle contains 50 ml. The number of applications depends on the area covered and how generously it is applied, but for localised effects on the face or limbs it typically covers multiple sessions. For productions with several shooting days, we recommend keeping more than one bottle in reserve.
Does artificial blood permanently stain clothing?
Not in most cases. Sangre F/X washes off skin and most fabrics with warm water and soap. The key is to act before it dries completely on the fabric. On very delicate fabrics or very light colours, always do a test beforehand.
