Fleet Street Blood Paste -Blood- is a special effects makeup product designed to add volume, dimension and texture to liquid blood work. Unlike fluid products, this paste stays exactly where you apply it, dries to the touch, and allows you to create clots, dense streams and wounds with a realistic depth that is hard to achieve with liquids alone. Presentation: 45 ml.

What it's used for
This paste is designed for FX makeup professionals who need to simulate blood with body and three-dimensional presence. Alone or combined with Fleet Street Drying Blood Fresh or Fleet Street Drying Blood Dark, it allows you to recreate almost any type of wound with a photorealistic result.
- Creating clots and blood build-ups in wounds
- Adding volume and depth to liquid blood streams
- Simulating dense blood in cuts, lacerations and trauma
- Application over latex, silicone or gelatine prosthetics to complement makeup
- Work in film, television, theatre and special effects photography
- Combining with Fleet Street Blood Paste -Scab- and Fleet Street Blood Paste -Lymphatic- to replicate healing stages
How to use it
- Prepare the application area: clean the skin or prosthetic and apply the base wound makeup if needed.
- Take the required amount of paste with a spatula, stick or stiff-bristle brush.
- Deposit the paste directly onto the wound or desired area, shaping it to create the form of the clot or build-up.
- If you want to integrate it with liquid blood flows, apply Fleet Street Drying Blood Fresh or Fleet Street Drying Blood Dark around or on top of the paste while it is still fresh.
- Combine different tones by mixing this paste with Scab Paste or Lymphatic Paste to simulate different states of the wound.
- Leave to air dry. The paste sets firmly and dries to the touch with no additional fixative needed.
- For more complex results, work in layers, allowing each application to dry before the next.
Usage tips
Mixing pastes for greater realism
The true potential of Fleet Street Blood is achieved by mixing the three available tones. The Blood tone provides the fresh red, the Scab Paste adds darkness and dried blood texture, and the Lymphatic Paste simulates serous fluids. By mixing different proportions you can achieve wounds at any stage: fresh, clotting or healing.
Combining with liquid bloods
To make the effect convincing, use the paste as the central element (clot, wound core) and surround it with liquid blood such as Fleet Street Drying Blood Fresh for streams and spatters. The difference in texture between the fixed paste and the shiny liquid is what turns the effect into something photorealistic.
Application over prosthetics
If you are working on a silicone or gelatine prosthetic, apply the base pigments and wound shading first before placing the paste. The paste adheres well to porous and textured surfaces. On very smooth surfaces, you can apply a base layer of liquid blood to act as an anchor before depositing the paste on top.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a blood paste and a liquid blood?
A liquid blood flows and creates natural streams, but has no body or volume. Fleet Street Blood Paste -Blood- stays fixed where you place it, allowing you to simulate clots, build-ups and three-dimensional textures that a liquid cannot replicate. The ideal approach is to combine both formats for maximum realism.
Is it safe to apply directly to skin?
Fleet Street Blood is a product designed for use in special effects makeup. As with any FX cosmetic product, a patch test on a small area of skin is recommended before general application, especially for people with sensitive skin. It is not formulated for use on mucous membranes or around the eyes.
How long does it take to dry?
The paste dries to the touch within a few minutes depending on the thickness of the applied layer and ambient temperature and humidity conditions. Thin layers dry faster; if you apply a very generous amount to simulate a voluminous clot, drying time increases proportionally.
Can it be mixed with colours or pigments to adjust the tone?
Yes. Fleet Street Blood Paste -Blood- is compatible with Skin Illustrator colours, allowing you to adjust the tone precisely. You can also mix it directly with Scab Paste or Lymphatic Paste to obtain intermediate shades.
How is it removed from skin or materials?
From skin, the paste can be removed with soap and water or with standard FX makeup removers. From fabrics or porous surfaces, removal can be more difficult once dry, so it is recommended to protect clothing and the work area during application.
What is the difference between the three available paste tones?
The Blood Paste mimics the bright-dark red colour of fresh blood. The Scab Paste has a darker, more muted tone that simulates dried blood or blood in advanced coagulation. The Lymphatic Paste reproduces the pale yellowish tone of serous fluids that appear in older or infected wounds. Combining all three gives you a complete range of wound states.
Does it work well on silicone or gelatine prosthetics?
Yes. The paste adheres well to these materials, especially when the surface has some texture or a prior layer of liquid blood as a base. It is a standard tool in FX prosthetic makeup for adding the final finish to sculpted wounds.
Can it be used alongside high-intensity arterial blood?
