What it is used for

This paste is designed for professionals and semi-professionals in special effects makeup who need to reproduce healing wounds, scabs, clotted lacerations or any raised blood effect. Its paste-like consistency allows it to be modelled directly onto skin or prosthetics without shifting.

  • Building wounds with scab and three-dimensional texture on skin or prosthetics
  • Complement to liquid bloods to add depth and colour layers
  • Simulation of wounds in the healing process
  • Clotted laceration effects in film, television and theatre productions
  • SFX makeup work in photography and music videos
  • Combination with Fleet Street Drying Blood Fresh or Fleet Street Drying Blood Dark to create custom tones of fresh blood and scab

How to use it

  1. Prepare the application area: make sure the skin or prosthetic is clean and free of excess grease.
  2. Take the required amount of paste directly from the container with a spatula, stick or your own gloved finger.
  3. Apply the paste to the desired area and model with your preferred tool: silicone spatula, wooden stick or fingers.
  4. Leave to dry to the touch. The paste will remain fixed in the position you have placed it.
  5. If you want to increase realism, apply Fleet Street Drying Blood Fresh or Fleet Street Drying Blood Dark around the scab to simulate recent or old bleeding.
  6. Combine with Pasta Fleet Street Blood Sangre or Pasta Fleet Street Blood Linfática to blend tones and achieve more complex wound effects.
  7. To remove the product, follow the manufacturer's instructions or use the standard cleaning products for SFX makeup.

Usage tips

How to blend the pastes for greater realism

The Scab tone works exceptionally well when combined with Pasta Fleet Street Blood Sangre or with the liquid bloods from the Fleet Street range. Mix small amounts on the palette before applying and adjust the tone to the type of wound you want to represent: a recent wound with an early scab, a very dark old wound or tissue with lymphatic fluid. Each combination produces different results.

Build in layers

For wounds with volume and depth, work in thin layers. Apply a first layer of paste, let it set and add a second layer to increase the relief. Over the outer layer you can apply liquid blood to simulate that the wound is still weeping. This layering method produces far more convincing results than applying all the paste at once.

Compatibility and storage

Fleet Street pastes are compatible with Skin Illustrator line colours, which greatly expands the range of available tones. Store the container tightly closed, away from heat sources and direct light. If the paste hardens around the cap edge, clean it with a damp cloth before closing to ensure a good seal with each use.

Frequently asked questions

Does the paste move once applied to the skin?

No. Unlike liquid bloods, Fleet Street Blood Paste Scab is formulated to remain fixed at the point of application. Once positioned and dry to the touch, it does not flow or shift, making it easy to maintain the effect throughout a shoot or performance.

Can it be applied directly to the skin?

Yes, the product is formulated for use in special effects makeup on skin. If you have sensitive skin, always carry out a patch test on a small area before extensive application.

How long does it take to dry?

The dry-to-touch time depends on the amount applied and ambient conditions (temperature and humidity). Under normal workshop or set conditions, thin layers dry quickly. For thicker layers, allow more time before applying additional layers of liquid blood.

Can it be mixed with liquid bloods?

Yes, that is precisely one of its main uses. Combining Fleet Street Blood Paste Scab with Fleet Street Drying Blood Fresh or Fleet Street Drying Blood Dark allows you to create multi-layer wound effects with different tones and textures in a single piece of work.

What is the difference between the different available paste tones?

The Fleet Street Blood range includes three paste tones: Blood, Scab and Lymphatic. The Scab tone reproduces the look of darkened, clotted blood, ideal for old wounds or wounds in the healing process. The Blood tone is brighter and more vivid, suited for fresh bleeding. The Lymphatic tone adds yellowish nuances typical of inflamed tissue or serous fluid.

How is the product removed?

The product is removed with the standard cleaning products used in SFX makeup. Avoid rubbing hard on sensitive areas; it is preferable to soften the product with a suitable remover before removing it.

Is it suitable for professional film and television use?

Yes. The Fleet Street Blood range is a standard reference in film, television, music video and live show productions. Its ability to stay fixed and its compatibility with liquid bloods make it particularly versatile on set.

How much paste does each container hold?

Each container holds 45 ml of paste, a manageable format for set or workshop use.
