What it is used for

Sealer AC100 is designed to protect the surface of any piece made with Jesmonite, preserving its original appearance and increasing its durability against moisture, UV rays and everyday wear. It is especially useful in indoor and outdoor projects where a professional and long-lasting finish is required.

  • Sealing and protection of sculptures and decorative figures in Jesmonite AC100
  • Final finish for furniture, countertops and acrylic claddings
  • Protection of architectural and decorative pieces for outdoor use
  • Sealing of garden elements, plant pots and outdoor sculptures
  • Preservation of colour and matte texture in arts and crafts pieces
  • Protective coating for special effects and scenography work
  • Protection of textured surfaces against dust and dirt

How to use it

  1. Make sure the Jesmonite piece is fully cured, clean and free from dust, grease or loose residue.
  2. If the piece is to be used outdoors or in damp areas, first apply a thin sealing coat to close surface porosity.
  3. Shake or stir the product thoroughly before use to ensure a homogeneous distribution.
  4. Apply a first thin, even coat using a brush, roller or airbrush gun, covering the entire surface.
  5. Allow to dry completely between coats (refer to the drying time on the packaging according to ambient temperature and humidity).
  6. Apply a second coat to ensure optimum protection and a uniform finish.
  7. Allow to cure completely before handling or exposing the piece to demanding conditions.
  8. To maintain protection, apply a new coating every 6–10 years on outdoor or heavily used pieces.

Usage tips

Temperature and application conditions

Always apply in an environment with temperatures between 15 °C and 25 °C and controlled humidity. Very low temperatures slow down drying and may compromise the adhesion of the sealer. Avoid applying outdoors if there is a risk of rain in the following hours.

Number of coats and matte finish

Two thin coats are always preferable to a single thick coat. An excessively thick coat can cause bubbles, irregularities or alter the characteristic matte finish of the sealer. With a brush, work in regular, even strokes in the same direction to avoid marks. With a spray gun, maintain a uniform distance and use low pressure for a more even finish.

Cleaning tools

As this is a water-based product, cleaning brushes, rollers and spray guns is straightforward: wash immediately with soap and water after each use. Do not allow the product to dry on the tools, as once cured it is difficult to remove.

Frequently asked questions

Is it always necessary to seal acrylic resin pieces?

It is not mandatory, but it is highly recommended for outdoor pieces or those exposed to moisture, sunlight or frequent handling. Jesmonite Sealer AC100 protects the surface and significantly extends the useful life of the piece without altering its natural matte appearance.

Can it be applied over painted or pigmented pieces?

Yes. Sealer AC100 is compatible with Jesmonite pieces that incorporate pigments or layers of acrylic paint. It acts as a final protective coat without altering the colour or surface texture.

How many coats are recommended?

In most cases, two thin coats are sufficient for optimum protection. For outdoor or highly porous pieces, a third coat may be advisable, always allowing complete drying between applications.

Does the finish of the piece change after applying the sealer?

The Sealer AC100 formulation is specifically designed to preserve the characteristic matte finish of Jesmonite. When applied correctly, it adds no shine and does not visually alter the surface.

How often does the sealer need to be renewed on outdoor pieces?

To ensure optimum protection on outdoor or heavily used pieces, it is recommended to apply a new coating every 6–10 years, depending on exposure conditions.

Is it suitable for surfaces in contact with water?

Sealer AC100 provides good moisture resistance and is suitable for decorative pieces used outdoors or in damp environments. It is not formulated for continuous immersion or permanent contact with water (such as ponds or swimming pools).

Can the product be diluted for application with a spray gun?

In general, dilution is not necessary. If your spray gun requires a lower viscosity, you can add a small amount of water (maximum 5–10%) to facilitate spraying, although it is advisable to carry out a prior test on a scrap material.

Is it compatible with other acrylic resins on the market?

Sealer AC100 is formulated and tested specifically for the Jesmonite range (AC100, AC200 and AC300). For acrylic resins such as Acrystal Prima and Basic Crystal, please check compatibility with Feroca before applying.
