What is it used for

Short hair brushes are the usual resource for simulating the natural texture of the skin, creating stubble, aging faces or applying paints with a grainy effect. Reduced bristle length adds firmness and allows for more precise control of the stitch pattern.

  • Creation of skin texture in prostheses and characterizations
  • Simulation of pores, days-old beard and epidermal blemishes
  • Application of alcohol paints with a splash effect
  • Aging of faces and effects of damaged skin
  • Latex distribution in thin layers for natural textures

How to use it

  1. Load the stipple brush with a small amount of paint or latex.
  2. Press the tip against the skin or prosthesis with vertical movements, without dragging.
  3. Vary the pressure to achieve different densities of texture.
  4. Overlay layers of different colors to add depth to the effect.
  5. Clean with the appropriate solvent at the end of each session.

Use Tips

Pressure and density

Gentle pressure generates an open and porous texture; By increasing the pressure you obtain a denser and more covering layer. Try both on a role before applying to the actor or model.

Combination with long-haired stipple

Use short hair first for defined base texture and complement with a long hair stipple to blur the edges and achieve a natural transition with real skin.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between short-haired and long-haired stipple?

Short hair offers more firmness and generates a more compact and defined pattern of points, ideal for controlled skin textures. Long hair is more flexible, produces a more random pattern, and is better for diffuse effects and smooth transitions.

Can they be used with latex to mold textures?

Yes. stipple Titanic FX brushes are compatible with liquid latex. Its synthetic bristles do not absorb latex like natural ones and are easier to clean, which prolongs the life of the brush with frequent uses with this material.

What solvent do I use to clean them after working with adhesives?

For alcohol-based adhesives, 99% isopropyl alcohol is effective. For oil or silicone based adhesives, use specific SFX brush cleaners. Avoid acetone as it can damage the ferrules.
