What it is used for

Its cool, saturated tone suits a wide variety of projects, from modern military vehicles and science fiction to fantasy miniatures and cosplay pieces. Distributed by Feroca, the official AK Interactive distributor in Spain, you have guaranteed access to the original formulation.
- Painting helmets, armour, and equipment on wargame miniatures (fantasy, science fiction)
- Details on modern or futuristic military vehicles in scale models

- Zenithal lighting and light effects on figures and busts
- Decoration and finishing on cosplay pieces and props
- Skin, gem, or energy effects on fantasy miniatures and artistic SFX
How to use it
- Surface preparation: apply a suitable primer for the substrate (plastic, resin, metal). A properly prepared surface improves adhesion and coverage of Turquoise.
- Shaking the bottle: shake the bottle well for at least 30 seconds before use. The acrylic formula may cause the pigment to settle if left standing for a while.
- Brush application: apply thin, even coats. Turquoise covers well in two coats; avoid overloading the brush to preserve fine detail.
- Airbrush application: thin with distilled water or acrylic thinner to achieve the desired consistency. Start with a 1:1 ratio and adjust according to the result. Recommended working pressure: 15–20 psi.
- Drying: touch-dry time is approximately 15–30 minutes under normal conditions. Wait until each coat is completely dry before applying the next.
- Cleaning: clean brushes and the airbrush with water before the paint dries. Once dry, acrylic paint is resistant and difficult to remove with water.
Usage tips
Controlling the final finish
The finish of Turquoise can vary between satin and matte depending on the number of coats, dilution, and drying conditions. If you need a fully matte or gloss finish before applying filters or varnishes, apply a dedicated varnish once the paint has dried.
Mixing and gradients
Turquoise mixes perfectly with other colours from the Standard range by AK Interactive. Try lightening it with white to achieve shallow-water tones, or darkening it with deep blues for deep shadows on fabrics and armour. Always practise mixes on a palette before applying them to the piece.
Shading and highlighting techniques
For miniature work, Turquoise works very well as a base colour over which to apply washes or glazes to define shadows, followed by progressive highlights by mixing the colour with lighter tones. Thin it well when using it as a transition layer to achieve smooth gradients.
Frequently asked questions
Can this paint be used directly in an airbrush without thinning?
It is not ideal. Although Turquoise has good base fluidity, for airbrush use it is advisable to thin it slightly with distilled water or acrylic thinner to avoid clogging and achieve a more even finish. A starting ratio of 1:1 usually works well, though you can adjust it depending on your airbrush and working pressure.
How many coats do I need for full coverage?
With Turquoise by AK Interactive, in most cases two thin coats are enough for opaque coverage over primer. Applying excessively thick coats can fill in fine details, so it is always better to build up thin layers.
Is this paint compatible with varnishes and washes?
Yes. Once dry, Turquoise is compatible with acrylic and oil varnishes, as well as with washes and filters from the AK Interactive range. If you plan to use solvent-based washes, protect the paint layer beforehand with a gloss varnish to prevent the wash from affecting the base colour.
Can I use this paint on resin and metal?
Yes, Turquoise adheres well to resin and metal as long as the surface has been properly prepared with a suitable primer. Without primer, the paint may chip or lose adhesion over time, especially on metal surfaces.
How do I store the paint correctly between sessions?
Close the bottle tightly after each use and store it in a cool place away from direct sunlight. If the paint thickens over time, add a few drops of distilled water and shake. If a dry film has formed on the surface, carefully remove it before using the rest of the contents.
