3D Resin Phrozen ABS-Like Matte Gray
70,18 € Tax incl.
Phrozen ABS-Like Resin Matte Gray is a UV-curing photopolymer resin designed for LCD/MSLA resin printers that combines high mechanical resistance with low odour and low shrinkage. Its matte grey finish makes it easy to paint directly or use in industrial and general modelling applications, delivering precise and durable parts from the very first print.

What it's used for
Phrozen ABS-Like Matte Gray is designed for those who need rigid, resistant parts with good surface definition. Its neutral grey colour and matte finish make it an ideal choice when visual post-processing matters. Some of its most common uses:
- Functional prototyping and engineering parts requiring rigidity and dimensional accuracy
- Modelling figures, sculptures and miniatures intended for painting
- Light industrial applications where surface hardness is relevant
- Architectural models and presentation parts with a solid finish
- Workshop tools, jigs and accessories printed on demand
- FX props and set dressing that require handling resistance
How to use it
- Gently shake the bottle for 1–2 minutes before pouring the resin into the vat to ensure a homogeneous mix.
- Pour the required amount into your LCD/MSLA printer vat. Avoid overfilling.
- Set the printing parameters recommended by Phrozen for this resin according to your machine's screen size and wavelength (generally 405 nm).
- Start the print and let it finish without unnecessary interruptions.
- Remove the part wearing nitrile gloves and carefully detach it from the build platform.
- Wash the part in 99.9% isopropyl alcohol for 2–5 minutes (ultrasonic bath or manual agitation) to remove uncured resin.
- Allow the part to air-dry until the alcohol has completely evaporated before post-curing.
- Post-cure the part under UV light (405 nm) for the time recommended by Phrozen according to the part's thickness to achieve final mechanical properties.
Usage tips
Temperature and storage
Work with the resin at room temperature (between 20 and 30 °C). Below 18 °C viscosity increases and adhesion issues may appear on the first layers. Store the bottle tightly closed, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Always shake before use, especially if it has been stored for a while.
Washing and post-curing
Incomplete washing leaves residual resin on the surface, which affects the final finish and can cause the part to remain tacky even after post-curing. Replace the isopropyl alcohol when it becomes saturated (it turns yellowish). For post-curing, do not exceed the recommended time: UV overexposure makes the part brittle and can cause surface micro-cracks.
Preparation for painting
The matte grey finish of this resin is an excellent base for acrylic paints, enamels and spray paints. Sand lightly with fine-grit sandpaper (400–600) to remove visible layer lines and apply a primer before the final paint coat. The Shore D 79 hardness allows the part to be worked with cutting and sanding tools without deformation.
Frequently asked questions
What type of printers are compatible with this resin?
Phrozen ABS-Like Matte Gray is compatible with LCD, MSLA and DLP resin printers that use a 405 nm wavelength, which is the most widespread standard in this type of equipment. Always check your printer's specifications to confirm compatibility.
Is UV post-curing necessary after printing?
Yes, post-curing is essential to achieve the final mechanical properties stated in the technical specifications (79 Shore D hardness, UTS 12 MPa, etc.). Freshly printed parts are not fully cured and may be brittle or tacky if used without this step.
What product should I use to clean the parts?
Washing is carried out with 99.9% isopropyl alcohol, which effectively removes uncured resin residue without attacking the printed part. Avoid using water or lower-purity alcohols, as they may leave residues or compromise the finish.
What is the difference between an ABS-Like resin and a standard resin?
ABS-Like resins are formulated to mimic the mechanical behaviour of ABS thermoplastic: greater rigidity, high surface hardness and good impact resistance compared to basic standard resins. They are better suited for functional parts and prototypes that will be subject to mechanical stress.
Can you paint directly on the cured part?
Yes. The matte grey colour of this resin is ideal as a painting base. It is recommended to sand with fine grit, clean the surface thoroughly and apply a primer before the final paint coat to improve adhesion and finish.
Does this resin have a strong odour during printing?
Phrozen ABS-Like Matte Gray is formulated with low odour compared to many resins on the market, making it easier to use in indoor workspaces. Even so, it is always recommended to work with adequate ventilation, as uncured resin vapours can be irritating.
How long can the resin be stored unused?
When stored correctly (bottle sealed, away from light and at a stable room temperature), the resin maintains its properties for an extended period. Always shake before use to homogenise any possible sediment. Check the expiry date indicated on the packaging.
Is there a higher-resolution version or one with water washability?
Yes. Feroca distributes several Phrozen resins depending on project requirements. For higher resolution, the Phrozen Aqua-Gray 4K and the Phrozen Aqua-Gray 8K are available. If you prefer water washability, you can opt for the Phrozen Water-Washable Model Gray.
