What it is used for

The GF Series brushes are designed for daily work in the FX makeup chair and on film, television and theatre sets. Their flat shape and fibre resilience make them particularly suited for tasks involving adhesives, solvents and pigments on foam latex, silicone or gelatine substrates.

  • Adhering foam latex, silicone and gelatine prosthetics with contact or acrylic adhesives.
  • Application and blending of solvent-based makeup foundations on prosthetics and skin.
  • Detail painting on three-dimensional special effects.
  • Controlled removal of adhesive at prosthetic edges.
  • Working with activators, alcohol-based pigments and intrinsic silicone bases.
  • Edge blending of soft prosthetics on the face.

How to use it

  1. Select the right size: GF6 for narrow detail areas, GF14 for general work and GF20 for large surfaces or fast adhesive application.
  2. Load the brush with a moderate amount of product (adhesive, activator or pigment) and remove the excess on the rim of the container.
  3. Apply using short, controlled strokes over the desired area; the faceted handle allows you to rotate the brush without losing your working angle.
  4. To adhere prosthetics, spread the adhesive in thin layers on both the prepared skin and the prosthetic and allow to dry to the touch.
  5. Clean the brush immediately after each use with the appropriate solvent for the product used, without submerging the ferrule in liquid to prevent long-term fibre loosening.
  6. Dry with absorbent paper and store the brush with the fibres facing upwards or protected.

Usage tips

Maintenance to extend service life

The solvent resistance of the ferrule bonding is high, but continuous abuse with strong solvents in prolonged immersion shortens the life of any brush. Always clean by gentle wiping on paper or cloth, not by immersion. If you use alcohol activators, alternate cleaning with warm soapy water to remove residue and recondition the fibres.

Make the most of the faceted handle

The faceted handle design is not merely aesthetic: it prevents the brush from rolling off the makeup table and allows you to find the same working angle without looking, which is especially useful when working under intense set lighting or in time-pressured conditions.

Choose the right size for the task

The GF6 is the go-to for sealing fine prosthetic edges and for fine liner work requiring maximum precision. The GF14 covers the most versatile working range on set. The GF20 speeds up work on large areas such as the scalp or neck, reducing adhesive application time.

Frequently asked questions

Are these brushes suitable for working with solvent-based adhesives?

Yes. The GF Series brushes are specifically made to withstand continuous contact with solvent-based adhesives and activators. The fibre-to-ferrule bonding uses an adhesive formulated to hold up against these products without the bristles coming loose under normal use.

Can I use these brushes with water-based paints or only with solvent products?

They are fully compatible with water-based paints, acrylic bases, alcohol activators and solvent products. The synthetic fibres do not absorb pigment excessively and make cleaning straightforward regardless of the type of product used.

What is the difference between sizes GF6, GF14 and GF20?

The difference is the width of the brush head. The GF6 is the narrowest and most precise, ideal for prosthetic edges and detail areas. The GF14 is the standard size for general work. The GF20 is the widest and allows you to cover large surfaces more quickly, reducing the number of passes required.

Are the bristles truly vegan?

Yes. The entire GF series uses 100% synthetic fibres, with no animal hair of any kind. In addition, the materials used in manufacturing are selected according to sustainability criteria.

How do you properly clean a brush after using adhesive?

Clean the brush with the solvent compatible with the adhesive used (acetone, isopropyl alcohol or the one recommended by the adhesive manufacturer) by wiping gently on absorbent paper. Avoid submerging the ferrule for prolonged periods. Finish with warm soapy water to condition the fibres and leave to dry with the bristles facing upwards.

Is the handle suitable for both left- and right-handed users?

Yes. The faceted ergonomic handle design adapts comfortably to any hand size and both grip styles, without favouring either hand.

Can I use these brushes to apply character makeup directly on skin (without prosthetics)?

Yes. Although optimised for prosthetic and adhesive work, their flat shape and fibre quality make them equally effective for applying and blending foundations and pigments directly on skin during special effects character makeups.
