What it's used for

Fleet Street Plasma Soap is designed for special effects professionals working with artificial blood, plasma FX and prop body fluids. It allows fast and effective cleaning at the end of shoots, rehearsals or performances, both on skin and on prop fabrics and surfaces.

  • Cleaning skin after blood and plasma effects in FX character work
  • Removing artificial blood stains from prop costumes and props
  • Cleaning work surfaces contaminated with FX fluids
  • On-set use during film, television and theatre productions
  • Maintaining FX costumes and equipment between takes

How to use it

  1. Apply a small amount of Fleet Street Plasma Soap directly onto the area to be cleaned.
  2. Rub gently with your fingers or a soft cloth to activate the surfactants.
  3. Allow to act for a few seconds on more stubborn stains.
  4. Rinse thoroughly with plenty of water.
  5. Repeat the process if residue remains or if you notice a ghosting effect (residual colour traces).

Usage tips

Act as quickly as possible

Artificial blood residues are much easier to remove when fresh. Apply Fleet Street Plasma Soap as soon as possible after the shoot or performance to prevent pigments and dyes from setting into the surface.

How to avoid the ghosting effect

The ghosting effect (colour traces that remain after cleaning) is common with heavily pigmented plasma products. To eliminate it, repeat the soap application two or three times in a row, rubbing with slightly more pressure on each pass. If ghosting persists on fabrics, allow the soap to act for one or two minutes before rinsing. For deeper cleaning on skin and surfaces, you can complement with Isopropyl Myristate as a prior step to dissolve the greasy components of the product.

Use on fabrics and delicate surfaces

Thanks to its low foam generation, Fleet Street Plasma Soap can be used without issue for hand washing prop costumes without saturating the fabric. For porous surfaces or special materials, always test on a small area before applying to the full surface. If you regularly work with prosthetic adhesives and need a more specific solvent for adhesive residues, check out Telesis Super Solv Plus or Telesis Silicone Remover depending on the type of adhesive used.

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to use directly on skin?

Yes. Fleet Street Plasma Soap is formulated for use in FX character work and makeup, so it is suitable for application on skin. If you have particularly sensitive skin, carry out a patch test on a small area of the forearm first.

Does it work with any type of artificial blood?

It is designed to remove most artificial blood products and plasma FX available on the market. For heavily pigmented or very oil-based products, it may be necessary to repeat the application or combine with a makeup remover such as Isopropyl Myristate.

What is the ghosting effect and how can it be avoided?

Ghosting is the residual colour trace left after an initial clean, common with heavily pigmented blood products. To eliminate it, repeat the Fleet Street Plasma Soap application two or three times, slightly increasing rubbing pressure on each pass.

Can it be used on prop costumes and fabrics?

Yes. Its low foam generation makes it ideal for hand washing prop costumes. Apply directly onto the stain, rub gently and rinse with plenty of cold water. Act as quickly as possible for best results.

Do I need an additional solvent to clean prosthetic adhesive residues?

Fleet Street Plasma Soap is optimised for blood and plasma residues, not adhesives. If you need to remove prosthetic adhesive residues, use specific products such as Telesis Super Solv Plus or Telesis Silicone Remover depending on the type of adhesive.

How much product should be applied per clean?

A small amount (similar to what you would use with a conventional hand soap) is sufficient for most cleaning jobs. The low foam generation allows you to control the quantity well without wasting product.

Is there a risk of damaging or discolouring surfaces?

On porous surfaces or special materials (foams, latex, scenic paints) it is always recommended to test on a small area before applying to the entire surface. On skin and conventional fabrics its use is safe.
