Dyed Latex Bald Bald -Calota-
26,62 € Tax incl.
The dyed latex bald cap (also known as a bald cap) is a scalp prosthetic handcrafted from natural latex using spray processes. Its very thin transition edges allow nearly invisible integration with the actor's or model's skin, making subsequent makeup application easier. Available in sizes S and L to suit different head circumferences.

What it's used for
The latex bald cap is an essential element in special effects makeup for portraying bald, aged or cranially distinctive characters. Thanks to its thin edge and neutral tone, it adapts to a wide variety of skin tones with the appropriate makeup.
- Bald character makeup in theatre, film and television
- Cranial ageing effects in audiovisual productions
- Costume and cosplay for iconic characters (villains, monks, aliens...)
- Support prosthetic for technical wigs or needle hair application with rooting needles
- Working base for SFX makeup artists in training or on set
- Live shows, themed events and professional Halloween
How to use it
- Select the correct size: measure the actor's head circumference and choose between S or L for the best fit.
- Trim if necessary: using fine-tipped scissors, adjust the bald cap's outline to the specific head shape, trimming gradually to avoid losing material.
- Prepare the skin: clean and degrease the application area (forehead, temples and nape) to ensure good adhesive adhesion.
- Adhere the bald cap: apply a skin-safe adhesive (e.g. eyelash adhesive or a prosthetic-specific adhesive) to the edges of the bald cap and press gently until it is fixed in place.
- Smooth the edges: blend the perimeter with a small amount of liquid latex or eyelash adhesive, spreading it with a sponge or brush to merge the transition with the skin.
- Makeup the surface: use water-based, alcohol-based or cream makeup compatible with latex to match the bald cap tone with the rest of the face.
- Set the finish: apply Translucent Powder over the entire area to reduce the shine of the latex and set the makeup.
- Add texture if needed: for aged dirt effects, Fleet Street DirtWorks Powders allow you to add realistic texture and grime without damaging the prosthetic.
Tips for use
Choose the right adhesive
The final result depends largely on the adhesive you use. Cosmetic eyelash adhesives are sufficient for short-duration use. For long productions or high-sweat conditions, opt for adhesives specifically designed for theatrical or film prosthetics, which offer greater durability and water resistance.
Work the edges while wet
To achieve a completely invisible transition, work the edges of the bald cap while the adhesive or blending latex is still wet. Use a fine-pore sponge or flat brush and press gently towards the skin, not towards the prosthetic. Once dry, any imperfections can be corrected with a thin layer of liquid latex.
Ventilation and hair rooting
If the character requires partial hair or realistic hairline recession, the latex bald cap supports the rooting technique: using rooting needles you can insert strands of hair one by one directly onto the latex surface to create very convincing partial baldness effects. To add surface texture or density without hair, Attagel can be applied mixed with latex to create skin irregularities on the scalp.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know which size I need?
Measure the actor's head circumference with a flexible tape measure, passing over the forehead, temples and nape. Size S corresponds to smaller circumferences and size L to larger ones. If in doubt, it is preferable to choose the larger size and trim, as reducing material is easy and the result is always cleaner than trying to stretch a small bald cap.
Can the bald cap be reused after a performance?
Yes, provided it is removed carefully using a solvent specifically designed for prosthetic adhesives and the latex surface is cleaned thoroughly. Do not use aggressive solvents that may attack the latex. Store it flat, unfolded, in a cool place away from direct light to extend its useful life.
Can I paint the bald cap with any type of makeup?
Latex is compatible with water-based, alcohol-based and cream-based makeups formulated for use on prosthetics. Avoid excessive oil-based makeups, as they can degrade the latex over time and make adhesion of successive layers more difficult. Always set the result with translucent powder at the end.
How do I make the edges completely invisible?
The key is to work the edges patiently. Apply liquid latex or eyelash adhesive at the perimeter and blend it towards the skin with a fine-pore sponge while it is still wet. Then match the tone with makeup and set with translucent powder. If any edge lifts, re-adhere before applying makeup.
Can I add hair to the bald cap to create a partially bald character?
Yes. The rooting technique allows you to insert natural or synthetic hair directly onto the latex surface using rooting needles. The result is very realistic and is commonly used in professional productions to portray hairline recession or sparse hair areas.
Is there any risk that the bald cap will damage the actor's skin?
The latex bald cap is safe for use on skin in individuals who are not sensitive to latex. Before a long production, always perform a patch test 24–48 hours in advance. Do not apply over irritated skin, wounds or active dermatitis. If the actor has a diagnosed latex allergy, this prosthetic is not suitable for them.
How long will it stay adhered during a performance or shoot?
With a standard eyelash adhesive, the hold is sufficient for performances of a few hours under normal conditions. For long shoots, heat or heavy sweating, it is advisable to use a high-resistance prosthetic-specific adhesive and, if necessary, touch up the edges during breaks.
How do I create an aged or dirty skull effect on the bald cap?
Once the base makeup is applied, Fleet Street DirtWorks Powders are ideal for adding dirt, stains and aged textures quickly and in a controlled manner. They are applied dry with a brush over the already made-up and powder-set bald cap.
