What it is used for

The Playmarker Copper is ideal for applying copper metallic effects quickly and cleanly on any modelling or miniature surface. Thanks to its high coverage and resistant acrylic formula, it allows working in successive layers and applying weathering or ageing effects without the risk of lifting the base coat.

  • Painting metallic details on scale models: cannons, hinges, rivets and engine parts
  • Highlighting or shading armour pieces on wargame miniatures
  • Applying base colour in hard-to-reach areas with precision thanks to the brush tip
  • Aged copper effects on dioramas and military vehicles
  • Painting accessories and decorative elements in cosplay projects
  • Quick colour sketches on figures in the design process for SFX
  • Copper details on historical and fantasy figures

How to use it

  1. Prepare the surface: clean the piece from dust and grease. For best results, apply a white primer before using the Playmarker Copper.
  2. Activate the marker: shake well before use. If it is the first time, gently press the tip on a test surface until the paint flows evenly.
  3. Apply the paint: stroke with the felt tip over the desired area using controlled movements. Work in thin layers for greater control of colour and coverage.
  4. Let it dry: drying is fast. Wait until the layer is completely dry before applying a second coat or any ageing product.
  5. Apply weathering effects if desired: the paint is resistant, so you can work on top with weathering products, washes or pigments without fear of damaging the base coat.
  6. Varnish if needed: you can seal it with any type of varnish (matte, satin or gloss) without affecting the paint.
  7. Cleaning: as it is water-based acrylic, clean the tip with water before the paint dries. If the tip wears out, replace it with a new one (the tip is ).

Usage tips

Work in layers to control the finish

The Copper colour has a natural satin finish due to the nature of its metallic pigments. If you prefer a more matte finish, apply a coat of matte varnish at the end. If you want more metallic shine, use a gloss varnish over the already dried paint. In both cases, the paint will not be damaged.

Combine it with weathering techniques

Copper is a colour that benefits greatly from weathering. Once the base coat is dry, you can apply dark washes to simulate accumulated dirt in recesses, or green pigments to recreate the oxidation effect of copper (patina). The paint's resistance ensures that the ageing layers do not lift it.

Frequently asked questions

Can these markers be used on plastic without a primer?

The Playmarker Copper formula is designed to adhere to plastic, resin, metal and wood. Even so, AK Interactive recommends applying a white primer before painting with Playmarkers to achieve maximum coverage and adhesion, especially on very smooth or virgin plastic surfaces.

Is it compatible with an airbrush or is it only used with a brush?

The Playmarker Copper is designed for direct application with its brush-type felt tip. It is not formulated for airbrush use. If you need the Copper colour for an airbrush, check the bottled paint ranges from AK Interactive available at Feroca.

Can I apply washes on top without lifting the paint?

Yes. Once dry, the paint from the Playmarker Copper is resistant to water and handling, which allows you to apply washes, filters and weathering products on top without the risk of dissolving or lifting the base coat. This is one of the key advantages of the Playmarker range from AK Interactive.

Is the finish always satin or can I modify it?

The Playmarker Copper has a satin finish due to the nature of its metallic pigments. You can easily modify it by applying a matte varnish to reduce the shine or a gloss varnish to enhance it. Any type of varnish is compatible with this paint without risk of damaging it.
