Playmarker Bronze

The Playmarker Bronze (AKM032) is a water-based acrylic paint marker by AK Interactive that lets you apply the color Bronze directly onto the surface, with the precision of a felt tip and without the need for a palette or brush. What it is used for

The Bronze tone of the Playmarker AKM032 is a warm metallic widely used in scale modelling and any creative discipline that requires speed and precision. It covers well in a single coat and accepts additional layers to intensify the color or work on transitions.

• Painting metallic details on wargame miniatures: ornaments, buckles, armour, weapons and bronze or aged copper objects.
• Scale models: pipes, valves, inscriptions and decorative parts on vehicles, aircraft and military or historical dioramas.

How to use it

1. Surface preparation: clean the piece of dust, grease and mould release residue. For maximum adhesion and coverage of the Bronze color, apply a white primer before painting with the Playmarker.
2. Priming the marker: before first use, shake the marker well for a few seconds. Press the tip gently on a test surface until the paint flows evenly through the felt tip.
3. Application: run the marker over the area to be painted with fluid, controlled strokes. The brush-type tip allows you to work both broad surfaces and fine edges and reliefs. Apply a second coat if you need greater coverage or saturation of the Bronze.
4. Blending and transitions: while the paint is still wet you can feather the edges with a brush slightly dampened with water to achieve smooth transitions or blending effects.
5. Drying: drying is fast. Allow to dry completely before applying additional coats, weathering or varnish.
6. Varnishing: if you want to modify the natural satin finish, apply a matt, satin or gloss varnish according to the desired result. The paint is compatible with any type of varnish.
7. Cleaning: clean the tip with water and absorbent paper immediately after use. If the tip deteriorates, it is.

Tips for use

Make the most of the Bronze satin finish

The Bronze color has a satin finish derived from the nature of its metallic pigments. This makes it ideal as a base over which to apply dark washes (browns, blacks) that will settle into the recessed areas and naturally highlight the relief, mimicking aged bronze or oxidised copper. If you prefer a more opaque finish, a matt varnish applied after complete drying will resolve the look without altering the color.

Flow control and priming

If you notice that the paint is not flowing well after a period of not using the marker, shake it again and press the tip on paper until the flow is restored. Store the Playmarker horizontally or with the tip facing down to keep the paint close to the tip and make priming easier in subsequent uses.

Combine it with other Playmarkers for metallic transitions

Bronze works very well in combination with other shades from the Playmarkers range to create NMM (Non Metallic Metal) effects or gradual wear. Apply Bronze as the mid tone and use darker shades for shadows and lighter ones for highlights, blending the transitions with a damp brush while the paint is still fresh.
