What it is used for
The Playmarker Peach is a versatile colour within the range of skin and organic tones, particularly useful for flesh areas, warm tones and surfaces with a natural appearance. Thanks to its clean, direct application, it is perfect for work that requires precision without having to set up a palette or airbrush.
- Painting flesh, skin and organic tone areas on wargame miniatures (fantasy figures, armies, characters).
- Highlighting and light lining on scale figures and busts.
- Quick detail painting on military or civilian figure models.
- Base colour for blending effects and transitions on miniatures.
- Direct application in cosplay projects for resin or foam pieces requiring skin tones.
- SFX work and artistic effects on compatible surfaces.
- Quick colour sketches and tests on any primed surface.
How to use it
- Surface preparation: clean the piece thoroughly and apply a white primer (using an AK Interactive primer spray is recommended). A white base maximises coverage and colour accuracy of Peach.
- Marker preparation: shake the Playmarker with the cap on for a few seconds to homogenise the paint inside.
- Loading the tip: gently press the tip against a test surface until the paint flows up to the felt tip. Start painting once the flow is even.
- Application: apply the colour directly to the surface with controlled strokes. You can layer coats once the previous one is dry to build coverage or work blending with the wet tip.
- Drying: the paint dries quickly being water-based. Under normal conditions, each coat is ready to work within a few minutes.
- Varnishing and effects: once the colour is finished, you can apply any type of varnish (matt, satin or gloss) or weathering effects without risk of lifting the paint.
- Cleaning: clean the tip with a damp cloth after each session. If the tip deteriorates, replace it with a compatible replacement tip.
Usage tips
Use layers to control intensity
The Playmarker Peach allows you to work in layers just like any modelling paint. Apply a first thin coat to establish the base and add additional coats in the areas where you want more saturation or coverage. Don't try to cover everything in a single pass: the initial transparency gives you room to manage lights and shadows.
Blending and transitions with a wet tip
While the paint is still wet, you can soften the edges with a slightly water-moistened brush to achieve smooth transitions between Peach and adjacent tones. This is especially useful when painting flesh areas on figures, where natural gradients make a real difference to the final result.
Compatible with the rest of your usual workflow
Although the base finish of the Playmarker Peach is satin, you can apply any varnish or weathering product from your usual workflow afterwards without any issue. The paint resists water and handling, so washes, filters and ageing effects behave predictably over this base.
Frequently asked questions
Can this type of marker be used on any surface?
The Playmarker Peach (AKM017) adheres well to plastic, resin, metal and wood. For best results, it is advisable to apply a white primer beforehand to improve adhesion and enhance colour accuracy. On porous or very smooth unprimed surfaces, coverage may vary.
Can I mix this marker with bottled acrylic paints?
Yes. The water-based acrylic formula of the Playmarker Peach is compatible with water-based acrylic paints in bottles from the AK Interactive range. You can use both formats in the same project without compatibility issues, whether mixing colours on a palette or applying layers of each interchangeably.
Do I need to varnish after using this marker?
It is not mandatory, but it is recommended if you are going to handle the piece frequently or apply weathering effects on top. The paint of the Playmarker Peach resists water and handling, and accepts any type of varnish (matt, satin or gloss) without risk of damaging the colour. Varnish also lets you unify finishes if you have combined several products.
Is this marker suitable for painting wargame figures?
Yes, it is one of the main uses of the Playmarkers. The Playmarker Peach is particularly useful for painting flesh, skin or organic tone areas on wargame miniatures, whether for full armies where speed matters or for display figures where you are looking for precision in the details.
