Flexible, odourless cyanoacrylate with no hazard pictograms for metals, plastics, rubbers and porous materials. 50 g.

Ciano Flexible is a next-generation cyanoacrylate with no hazard pictograms, no odour and no blooming effect, developed to provide fast and flexible bonding on a wide variety of materials. Its formulation allows the joint to absorb minor vibrations and movements without breaking, making it a particularly suitable option for applications where aesthetics and ease of use are just as important as adhesive performance.

What it is used for

Ciano Flexible is designed for applications where the adhesive joint must follow the movement of the substrate without cracking. Its flexible formulation makes it ideal when substrates may be subject to vibrations, light impacts or minor differential movement. It is particularly well suited for:

  • Bonding metals, plastics and rubbers in applications involving vibration
  • Bonding porous or acidic materials such as wood, paper and leather
  • Manufacturing and repair of footwear and leather goods
  • Applications requiring a discreet joint with no whitening of the surrounding area
  • Enclosed environments where the odour of conventional cyanoacrylates is a problem

How to use it

  1. Prepare the surfaces: make sure they are clean, dry and free of grease. Remove any dust or oil residue with a suitable solvent and allow to dry completely before proceeding.
  2. Check the fit: verify that the parts fit together correctly before applying the adhesive. Working time is short and there is no margin for repositioning once curing has begun.
  3. Apply the adhesive: deposit a thin layer of Ciano Flexible onto one of the surfaces using the dispensing needle. A small, even amount is sufficient; excess adhesive does not improve bonding.
  4. Join the parts: bring both surfaces together and press firmly for 5–30 seconds until initial fixture is achieved.
  5. Hold the position: although initial fixture occurs within seconds, avoid subjecting the bond to significant stress until curing is further advanced.
  6. Full cure: maximum strength is reached after 24 hours at room temperature. In cold environments or low humidity, the process may be slower.
  7. Cleaning up excess: adhesive residue can be removed with Limpiaciano before curing is complete. Once cured, the product is much more difficult to remove.
Caution: although Ciano Flexible carries no hazard pictograms under current regulations, cyanoacrylate adhesives bond instantly to skin and mucous membranes. Always work in a well-ventilated area and avoid prolonged skin contact. In case of eye contact, rinse with plenty of water and seek medical advice. Keep the product out of the reach of children.

Usage tips

Use the dispensing needle to control the amount

The dispensing needle included with Ciano Flexible allows you to apply the adhesive with great precision, especially in small or hard-to-reach areas. Always apply the minimum amount necessary: a thin layer ensures even curing and a stronger joint. Excess adhesive not only fails to improve adhesion, but can create build-ups that take longer to cure and compromise the appearance of the bond. If working on porous materials such as leather or wood, a slightly larger amount helps to impregnate the surface, but without saturating it.

No odour does not mean no ventilation

One of the most valued advantages of Ciano Flexible is the absence of the characteristic odour of conventional cyanoacrylates, making it far more comfortable to use in leather goods workshops, confined spaces or areas with limited ventilation. However, even though the odour is imperceptible, it is advisable to maintain minimal ventilation during application. The absence of odour does not imply a complete absence of vapours; working in a ventilated environment is good practice with any adhesive, regardless of its hazard classification.

Flexibility protects the joint in materials that move

Unlike a rigid cyanoacrylate, Ciano Flexible is formulated to follow minor movements and flexing of the substrate without the joint cracking. This is particularly relevant for leather, rubber and semi-flexible plastics, where peel stresses and continuous vibrations eventually cause rigid joints to fail through fatigue. If the application involves differential movement between the bonded parts, Ciano Flexible offers far greater durability than a standard cyanoacrylate. For larger movements or highly elastic substrates, combine it with appropriate surface preparation to maximise adhesion.

Frequently asked questions

What does it mean that it has no blooming effect?

Blooming is the white halo that appears around the joint when cyanoacrylate vapours deposit on the adjacent surface during curing. Ciano Flexible is formulated to minimise this effect, making it ideal for applications where the appearance around the joint matters, such as in footwear, leather goods or visible finish parts.

Does the flexibility of the joint reduce mechanical strength?

Slightly. Tensile strength is somewhat lower than that of a rigid cyanoacrylate, but impact resistance and durability in applications involving vibration or movement are considerably superior. For most applications where a flexible cyanoacrylate is chosen, this trade-off is favourable.

Is it suitable for hides and leathers?

Yes. It is one of its specific uses. The flexibility of the joint is compatible with the natural movement of leather, and the absence of odour makes it more comfortable in leather goods workshops where work is carried out in enclosed spaces over long sessions.

Is it safer than a conventional cyanoacrylate because it has no pictograms?

The absence of pictograms indicates that, under hazardous substances classification regulations, the product does not exceed the hazard thresholds required for mandatory labelling. Even so, always apply in a ventilated area, avoid prolonged skin contact and keep the product out of the reach of children.

Can I remove the adhesive if I make a bonding mistake?

Before full cure, excess adhesive can be removed with Limpiaciano. Once cured, the cyanoacrylate is much more resistant, although it can be softened with acetone or cyanoacrylate-specific solvents. Bear in mind that acetone may attack certain plastics and finishes, so always test on a hidden area before applying. For skin, use warm water and soap or vegetable oil; never pull bonded parts apart by force.

How long does the container last once opened?

Once opened, seal the container tightly after each use and store it upright in a cool, dry place, away from moisture and direct light. Under optimal conditions, the product can retain its properties for several months. If the adhesive has gelled or flows with difficulty through the needle, it should no longer be used.
