High-viscosity thixotropic gel cyanoacrylate adhesive. Sets in 19-180 s, no dripping on vertical surfaces. 20 g.

Ciano Gel is a high-viscosity cyanoacrylate adhesive with thixotropic behaviour, developed for applications requiring precise control and no dripping on vertical or hard-to-reach surfaces. Its gel consistency allows comfortable working without the adhesive flowing outside the bonding area.

What it is used for

The gel viscosity makes it especially suitable for bonding porous or imperfectly fitting materials, where a liquid cyanoacrylate would penetrate excessively or run off. It is particularly well suited for:

  • Bonding wood, MDF and carpentry materials
  • Assembly of parts with irregular or slightly gapped surfaces
  • Vertical applications where the adhesive must not drip
  • Quick repairs of porous materials such as cork, leather or ceramics

How to use it

  1. Prepare the surfaces: clean and dry the surfaces to be bonded. Remove dust, grease or residual moisture.
  2. Apply the adhesive: apply a thin layer of Ciano Gel to one of the surfaces using the dispensing needle.
  3. Join the pieces: bring the parts together and press firmly for the fixture time (19–180 s depending on the material).
  4. Hold the position: avoid moving the bond during the first 24 hours to achieve maximum strength.
  5. Clean excess: if you need to remove excess, use Limpiaciano on any residue outside the bond area.
Caution: cyanoacrylate adhesives bond instantly to skin and mucous membranes. Work with nitrile gloves in a well-ventilated area. In case of eye contact, rinse with plenty of water and seek medical advice. Do not inhale vapours generated during curing. Keep the product out of reach of children.

Usage tips

Take advantage of thixotropy for vertical work

The thixotropic nature of Ciano Gel means the product is firm at rest but flows slightly when pressure is applied with the dispenser. This allows you to deposit it exactly where you want without it migrating across the part before bonding. On vertical surfaces or overhead, this property is decisive: the gel stays in place while you position the opposing part — something impossible with a conventional liquid cyanoacrylate.

Adjust pressing time according to the material

The fixture range of 19 to 180 seconds is not arbitrary: porous materials with some surface moisture (wood, cork, unglazed ceramics) cure at the fast end of the range, while smooth, very dry or cold surfaces require longer pressing time. To be safe, always hold pressure for at least 60 seconds on the first application with a new material. If you have a cyanoacrylate activator, applying it to one of the two faces drastically reduces fixture time even under unfavourable conditions.

Minimum amount for best results

With Ciano Gel, as with any cyanoacrylate, the key is to apply just the right amount: a thin, continuous film is sufficient. Excess gel does not improve bond strength; on the contrary, it creates accumulation points that cure unevenly, can produce visible white staining through the blooming effect, and make it harder to achieve a perfect fit between the two surfaces. On porous materials such as wood or cork, a slightly larger amount helps fill the pores, but without saturating the surface.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the fixture time vary so much between 19 and 180 seconds?

The time depends on the material, ambient temperature and humidity. On porous materials with some moisture, fixing is faster. On very smooth, dry surfaces at low temperature it may take longer.

Does Ciano Gel withstand mechanical stress?

Yes. After full cure at 24 hours it offers very good mechanical resistance to tensile and shear forces. For bonds subject to vibration, consider using it together with an activator to speed up curing.

Can it be used on plastic?

It depends on the type. It works well on ABS, acrylic, PVC and polystyrene. On polyethylene and polypropylene, adhesion is very limited with all cyanoacrylates.

What is the difference between Ciano Gel and Ciano Black?

Ciano Gel is colourless and thixotropic, ideal for wood and porous materials. Ciano Black is black in colour, has a viscosity of 245–325 cps and is optimised for metal, plastic and rubber.
