CosClay C2 ClearBond Adhesive 60ml - 2oz
13,31 € Tax incl.
ClearBond is the oven-cure adhesive designed specifically for Cosclay polymer clay, capable of bonding raw pieces to each other, already cured pieces, or combinations of both. Unlike conventional adhesives, it cures in the oven together with the piece, integrating into the clay structure and delivering high-performance mechanical and chemical adhesion. If you work with Cosclay and need permanent, strong bonds, ClearBond is the right solution.

What it's used for
ClearBond is designed for any project where you need to join Cosclay pieces permanently and durably. It is especially useful in character sculpture, props, cosplay and special effects, where joints must withstand handling, painting and subsequent finishing.
- Joining parts of a sculpture built in sections: body, limbs, accessories
- Repairing already cured Cosclay pieces that have broken or come apart
- Adhering fine details onto a cured base without risk of deformation
- Adding raw clay layers onto already baked sculptures with optimal grip
- Cosplay and articulated character projects where structural durability is required
- Working with flexible polymer clays where conventional adhesives offer no compatibility
How to use it
- Make sure the surfaces to be joined are clean, free of dust and grease.
- Apply a thin, even layer of ClearBond to one or both contact surfaces.
- Press the pieces together firmly and hold them in the desired position. You can use clamps or supports if the geometry requires it.
- If one or both pieces are raw, you can bake directly after joining.
- Place the piece in the oven at 135 °C (275 °F) for a minimum of 30 minutes.
- Allow to cool completely before handling the piece. The bond reaches its final strength once cool.
Usage tips
Thin layers for best results
There is no need to apply a generous amount of ClearBond. A thin, even layer over the joining area is enough to achieve proper adhesion. Excess adhesive can cause bubbles or visible overflow at the joint, which must be removed before baking.
Holding in place during baking
If the pieces you are joining have complex geometries or the join point is in a cantilevered area, use aluminium foil supports, fibreglass or any oven-safe material to hold the position during curing. Once cured, ClearBond does not allow repositioning.
Cured-to-cured joints: prepare the surface
When joining two already cured pieces, it is advisable to lightly sand the contact areas with medium-grit sandpaper before applying the adhesive. This increases the mechanical grip surface and noticeably improves the final bond strength.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use this adhesive with polymer clays other than Cosclay?
ClearBond is formulated specifically for Cosclay polymer clay and its cure temperature is calibrated to this material. Compatibility with other polymer clays is not guaranteed by the manufacturer, so it is recommended to use it exclusively with the Cosclay range.
At what temperature do I need to bake for the adhesive to cure properly?
ClearBond cures at 135 °C (275 °F) for a minimum of 30 minutes. It is important to respect this temperature: below it may not cure completely, and above it scorching of the clay or degradation of the adhesive may occur.
Can raw clay be joined onto an already baked piece?
Yes, this is one of the most common applications of ClearBond. Apply the adhesive to the contact area of the cured piece, add the raw clay on top and bake the assembly at 135 °C for 30 minutes. The resulting bond is durable and compatible with Cosclay's characteristic flexibility.
Can the adhesive be painted or sanded once cured?
Once cured, ClearBond integrates into the clay structure and the joint area can be worked like the rest of the piece: sanded, painted with acrylics, or finished using standard sculpture and special effects techniques.
Can a broken piece be repaired with this adhesive?
Yes. ClearBond is especially useful for repairing already cured Cosclay pieces that have fractured. Apply the adhesive to both surfaces of the break, press the pieces together and bake at 135 °C for 30 minutes. For better grip, lightly sand the surfaces before applying the adhesive.
How much adhesive should be applied?
A thin, even layer is sufficient. There is no need to build up product: excess can cause bubbles or flash at the joint. Apply with a spatula, brush or directly from the container depending on the geometry of the piece.
Is it compatible with standard non-flexible polymer clays?
ClearBond is formulated for Cosclay. If you work with standard polymer clays such as Super Sculpey Beige or Super Sculpey Firm Gray, compatibility is not guaranteed. For those clays, other specific bonding solutions are available.
What happens if I don't bake the adhesive and leave it to air dry?
ClearBond is an oven-cure adhesive: it requires heat to activate its cure. If left to air dry without baking, it will not reach its final strength and the bond will not be durable or reliable. The baking process at 135 °C must always be completed.
