Alumaluster 32oz (946ml): sprayable chrome paint with mirror-like reflective finish. Applicable with airbrush or standard spray gun over a gloss black base coat.
Alumaluster is a professional chrome paint system that lets you achieve a polished aluminium finish with mirror-like reflections, applied directly with a standard spray gun or airbrush. Its resin-based formula with high-reflectance pigments offers superior adhesion and coverage compared to other chrome paints on the market, and in many situations does not require a final clear coat.

What it is used for
Alumaluster is designed for professionals and semi-professionals in special effects, cosplay, prop making, vehicle customisation and industrial decoration who need a convincing, durable and easy-to-apply chrome finish. It is the solution when electroplating is not viable due to cost, part geometry or material type.
Cosplay helmets and armour (Iron Man effect, superheroes, etc.)
Props and replicas for film, theatre and special effects
Customisation of vehicle and motorcycle parts
Decorative finish on sculptures, models and figures
Chrome coating of parts made from resin, fibreglass, ABS or wood
Industrial prototypes and models with metallic presentation finish
Interior decoration and prop elements
How to use it
Prepare the surface: make sure the piece is clean, dry and free of dust, grease or silicone. A perfectly smooth surface guarantees the best result.
Apply the gloss black base coat: to achieve the maximum mirror effect, apply a high-gloss black paint coat to the piece, or manufacture the piece directly using a black material such as EasyFlo Black resin. Allow to dry completely.
Prepare the spray gun or airbrush: shake the product thoroughly before use. Adjust the nozzle and equipment pressure according to the manufacturer's recommendations for metallic paints.
Apply Alumaluster: spray in thin, even coats at the appropriate distance from the piece. Avoid build-up. A single coat is usually sufficient to activate the reflective effect.
Allow to dry: respect the drying time before handling the piece. The reflective finish develops fully as it dries.
Seal if necessary: for applications requiring greater abrasion or weather resistance, apply a compatible clear coat such as Imperiflex 640 to protect the chrome finish without losing gloss.
Clean your equipment: immediately clean the spray gun or airbrush with the appropriate solvent after each use.
Important notice: Alumaluster is a professional-use product. Consult the safety data sheet before use. Always work in a well-ventilated area and use appropriate respiratory protection (mask with organic vapour filter), gloves and safety goggles. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and mucous membranes.
Usage tips
The black base coat is key
The mirror effect of Alumaluster depends directly on the quality of the base coat. The blacker, smoother and glossier the base, the more spectacular the final result. If the piece is not black from manufacture, sand, prime and apply at least two coats of high-gloss black paint before spraying Alumaluster. Any imperfection in the base coat will be amplified by the reflective finish.
Spray parameters
Alumaluster works best with fine nozzles and moderate pressures. Thin coats with multiple passes at a consistent distance give better results than a single heavy pass. If using an airbrush, test on cardboard first to calibrate the flow before tackling the final piece. Avoid the product dripping or accumulating on edges and raised details.
Sealing and durability
On pieces that will be subject to frequent handling, friction or outdoor exposure, sealing with a compatible clear coat is highly recommended. Imperiflex 640 is specifically formulated to seal Alumaluster-type finishes while maintaining gloss and flexibility. Apply it in very thin coats to avoid dulling the metallic effect.
Frequently asked questions
What materials can I apply this chrome paint to?
Alumaluster adheres to most properly prepared rigid surfaces: polyurethane resins, fibreglass, ABS, PVC, wood, plaster, rigid foam and metals. The requirement is that the surface is clean, free of grease and silicone, and preferably primed with a gloss black base coat to maximise the mirror effect.
Do I always need to apply a clear coat at the end?
Not always. On decorative or display pieces without frequent contact, Alumaluster can be left unsealed. However, on pieces that will receive abrasion, handling or outdoor exposure, it is recommended to apply a clear coat such as Imperiflex 640 to protect the finish without losing gloss.
What spray equipment works best?
Alumaluster can be applied with a standard spray gun or an airbrush. For large pieces, a spray gun is more efficient. For small pieces, details or precision work, an airbrush gives greater control. In either case, use fine nozzles and moderate pressure to avoid build-up and achieve even coats.
How many coats are needed to achieve the chrome effect?
In most cases a single well-applied coat over a gloss black base is sufficient to activate the reflective effect. If there are areas with less coverage, you can apply a second thin pass once the first coat is dry. Excessive coats can reduce gloss rather than increase it.
Can I apply it to flexible surfaces?
Alumaluster is formulated primarily for rigid surfaces. On surfaces with some flexibility, the finish may crack if the piece is bent significantly. If you need a chrome finish on flexible materials, consult the combined use with Imperiflex 640, which adds flexibility to the overall finish.
How much coverage does the 946 ml format provide?
Coverage depends on the spray equipment, application distance and coat thickness. As a rough guide, applying thin, even coats, the 946 ml format can cover several square metres of surface. For large projects or series production, treat the Quart format as your working unit and calculate based on your own tests with the same equipment and conditions.
Is it compatible with any black base paint?
Generally yes, as long as the base paint is fully cured and has a gloss finish. Avoid bases containing silicone or additives that could inhibit adhesion. Ideally, use spray or gun-applied paints specifically designed for priming or gloss black finishing, and allow to cure completely before applying Alumaluster.
Alumaluster 8oz (236ml): polished aluminium chrome paint for airbrush or spray gun. Superior reflective finish, high adhesion, no mandatory sealing coat required.
