Smith's Prosthetic Deadener -Silicone Gelling Agent-

Smith's Prosthetics Deadener is the original and best deadener for creating prosthetic gel applications. By varying the amount of deadener added to the PlatSil Gel silicone, different degrees of softness can be obtained.

A basic rule of thumb would be to add 50% by weight to a PlaSil A+B mixture, this means a Deadener+PART A+PART B 1:1:1 combination.

Always add Deadener to Part A, before mixing with Part B

To achieve the effect of a skin for an animatronic, for example, 100% Deadener would be added. For a prosthetic application (encapsulated silicone) you would need between 180%-200%.

When Deadener is added, the silicone loses its consistency and the material becomes sticky to the touch. In order to create a prosthetic application it is necessary to encapsulate the silicone mixed with the deadener, this is achieved by applying a thin layer of the resulting slicone gel in a mold that has been previously coated with a Bald Cap such as Key-Cap Plastic.
