The Curing Agent 81 is a catalyst for condensation (tin-cure) silicones that significantly reduces curing time, allowing earlier demoulding and increasing workshop throughput. If you work with condensation silicones and need to cut waiting times without changing materials, this agent is the straightforward solution.

What it is used for
Curing Agent 81 is designed for workshops and professionals working with condensation silicones who need to reduce demoulding times to increase productivity. It is especially useful when multiple castings need to be produced in the same day or when environmental conditions (low temperature, low humidity) slow down natural curing.
- Accelerating cure in serial production of silicone moulds
- Reducing demoulding time in cold or dry environments
- Optimising workflow in special effects and artistic moulding workshops
- Adapting curing time in processes where waiting is a bottleneck
- Combined use with thixotropic additive for vertical or complex surface applications
How to use it
- Prepare the condensation silicone following the manufacturer's instructions for the standard base/catalyst ratio.
- Add Curing Agent 81 to the mixture before incorporating the standard catalyst, following the recommended dosage (consult the product's TECHNICAL DATA SHEET or contact Feroca for the exact ratio for your silicone).
- Mix thoroughly, making sure the agent is fully integrated with the silicone base.
- Add the standard catalyst and mix again until a uniform blend is obtained.
- Pour or apply the silicone onto the model. Bear in mind that the pot life is also reduced, so work quickly.
- Allow to cure. The demoulding time will be noticeably shorter than usual without the accelerator agent.
- Demould and proceed with the next production cycle.
Usage tips
Adjust the dosage according to urgency
Curing Agent 81 shortens both the curing time and the pot life. If you add too much, the silicone may start to gel before you have finished pouring. Start with the minimum recommended dosage and adjust progressively until you find the right balance for your process.
Workshop temperature and curing
Condensation silicones cure through reaction with ambient moisture and are affected by temperature. In cold environments (below 18 °C), curing can be very slow even with the accelerator agent. Combine Curing Agent 81 with an appropriate workshop temperature (between 20 and 25 °C) for optimal and predictable results.
Compatibility with other additives
Curing Agent 81 is compatible with Thixo Additive for silicones, allowing you to accelerate curing in layer applications (brushing, spatula) without the mix running. If you use paste release agent for silicones on the model, make sure it is completely dry before applying the silicone to avoid interfering with the cure.
Frequently asked questions
Does the accelerator agent also reduce the working time?
Yes. By accelerating the curing reaction, Curing Agent 81 also shortens the pot life of the silicone. It is important to work quickly once mixed. Adjust the dosage to find the right balance between cure speed and sufficient handling time.
Which silicones is this curing agent compatible with?
Curing Agent 81 is formulated for condensation silicones (tin cure). It is not compatible with addition (platinum) silicones. If you are unsure about your silicone's family, contact the Feroca technical team.
Can I use the accelerator agent together with the VF fast catalyst?
The Curing Agent 81 VF is already a very fast-acting version. Combining both can cause an extremely rapid cure that makes correct application difficult. Choose one or the other depending on the urgency of your process and workshop conditions.
Does the accelerator affect the final properties of the mould?
When used at the correct dosage, Curing Agent 81 does not significantly alter the mechanical properties or surface quality of the mould. Excessive accelerator can create internal stresses or slightly reduce elasticity. Always respect the recommended dosage.
Does the accelerator agent affect curing time if I also use thixotropic additive?
No. The thixotropic additive only modifies the viscosity and the ability of the mix to stay in place without running. It does not interfere with curing time or the action of Curing Agent 81. You can combine them without any issue.
How does ambient temperature influence the result when using the accelerator agent?
Ambient temperature remains a key factor even when using Curing Agent 81. At low temperatures (below 18 °C), curing can still be slow. It is recommended to work between 20 and 25 °C to achieve the expected curing times with the accelerator.
Do I need to use a release agent when using the accelerator agent?
The use of a release agent depends on the model and the material it is made from, not on the curing agent. To protect porous models or facilitate demoulding, you can apply Ferosil V 32 paste release agent for silicones before pouring the silicone. Make sure it is completely dry before applying the mix.
