What it is used for
A well-constructed flat brush is a must-have in any FX kit. The 307 covers direct application uses where it is necessary to cover the surface with clean lines and uniform distributions without the specificity of the countersunk or stipple models.
- Application of base paints in characterization makeup
- Extension of sealants and encapsulations in medium-sized prostheses
- Painting of flat surfaces in latex and silicone prosthesis effects
- Distribution of creamy bases and opaque paints
- Application of FX paints in areas of the body with defined edges
How to use it
- Load the brush with paint, primer or sealant and distribute evenly on the palette.
- Apply with long, uniform strokes following the shape of the surface.
- For even coverage, always work in the same direction with each coat.
- Apply the next layer perpendicular to the previous one to avoid brush marks.
- Clean with soap and water or solvent depending on the product used.
Use Tips
Avoid brush marks
To achieve a clean surface without visible marks, alternate the direction of the strokes between coats (horizontal/vertical) and make sure each coat is dry before applying the next.
Balanced load
A well-loaded flat brush distributes the product evenly. Too much product leaves thick stains; too little does not cover properly. Test the load on the palette before applying to the prosthesis or actor.
Frequently asked questions
How is the 307 different from the 308 in angle?
The 307 has a straight tip and is more versatile for general applications on flat surfaces. The 308 angled is designed for hard-to-reach areas and angled edges, where the inclined tip allows you to reach with more precision. For general work, the 307; for areas with a curve or angle, the 308.
Is it suitable for alcohol-based paints or just water-based?
It is compatible with alcohol, water and oil based paints. The synthetic bristles do not absorb excess product and are resistant to common solvents in FX paints. Clean with the solvent corresponding to the type of paint used.
Can I use it to apply latex from molds directly to the skin?
Yes. 307 is useful for applying liquid latex in thin layers to skin or prostheses. The synthetic bristles are easy to clean once the latex has dried, moistening it with water before it dries completely or with alcohol if it has already solidified.
