What it is used for

Bond Off is designed for SFX makeup and character makeup professionals who regularly work with prosthetic adhesives and need to remove them safely, without damaging the skin or deteriorating prosthetic pieces. It is also highly efficient for cleaning tools between applications.

  • Removing adhesive-bonded prosthetics from the performer's or model's skin
  • Eliminating glue residues left on the skin after removing a prosthetic
  • Cleaning the surfaces of latex, silicone or other material prosthetics without damaging them
  • Cleaning brushes and spatulas impregnated with adhesive
  • Keeping tools in optimal condition during long work sessions
  • Use on film and television sets, theatre, theatrical character makeup and special effects

How to use it

  1. Saturate a cotton pad, cotton swab or clean brush with Bond Off.
  2. Apply the product to the edge of the prosthetic or to the area with adhesive residue.
  3. Allow a few seconds for the solvent to penetrate and soften the adhesive.
  4. Gently remove the prosthetic or adhesive residue without scrubbing hard.
  5. If residue remains, repeat the application until the area is completely clean.
  6. To clean brushes, apply Bond Off directly and work the adhesive out with your fingers or on an absorbent paper.
  7. Once the process is complete, wash the skin, prosthetic or tool with soap and water to remove any remaining solvent residue.

Usage tips

Allow it to work before removing

Do not try to peel off the prosthetic as soon as you apply the product. Allow Bond Off to work for at least 10–15 seconds on the adhesive edge before starting to lift the piece. This reduces the effort required and avoids unnecessary stress on both the skin and the prosthetic.

Work from the edges towards the centre

When removing a prosthetic, introduce the solvent at the edges and gradually lift the piece towards the centre. Never pull suddenly: gradual work protects the integrity of the piece and is much more comfortable for the performer.

Tool cleaning during the session

Bond Off is particularly cost-effective for keeping adhesive brushes in perfect condition during a long session. With approximately 75 cleanings per ounce, you can keep your tools ready at all times without interrupting your workflow. Saturate the brush, work the adhesive out on absorbent paper, and rinse afterwards with soap and water.

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to use directly on the skin?

Bond Off is formulated for use on skin in professional makeup contexts. Even so, as with any solvent, it is recommended to avoid prolonged contact and to wash the area with soap and water immediately after use to remove any residue.

Does it work on all types of prosthetic adhesives?

Bond Off is designed to remove prosthetic adhesives and similar glues commonly used in character makeup and special effects. For cases involving highly specific or experimental adhesives, it is advisable to do a small test before the session.

Can it damage silicone or latex prosthetics?

Bond Off is designed precisely for use on prosthetics, so its formula is compatible with the materials commonly used in these types of pieces. For very delicate pieces or those made from unusual materials, it is worth testing on a less visible area before applying it to the entire surface.

Is it necessary to wash after using it?

Yes. After removing the prosthetic and cleaning adhesive residues with Bond Off, it is always recommended to wash the skin, prosthetic or tools with soap and water to ensure no solvent residue remains.

How many brushes can be cleaned with one container?

Bond Off cleans approximately 75 brushes per ounce, making it a very efficient option for professionals working in long sessions or in high-volume productions.

Can it be used to clean tools as well as skin and prosthetics?

Yes, one of the most valued uses of Bond Off among professionals is precisely the cleaning of brushes and applicators impregnated with adhesive. It is far more effective than water alone for dissolving glue residues.

How often can it be applied during a work session?

You can use it as many times as needed throughout the session, both for the final makeup removal and for spot cleaning of tools during the process. There is no need to wait between applications.
