Telesis 9 is the most advanced and fastest medical-grade silicone adhesive in the Telesis line, developed by PPI (Premiere Products Inc.), an FDA-registered manufacturer. Designed to bond silicone and latex prosthetics directly onto skin, it stands out for its exceptional strength, durability, and ultra-fast drying time, even in high-mobility areas such as eye and mouth contours.

What it is used for
Telesis 9 is formulated to bond prosthetic appliances onto skin safely and durably. Its pressure-sensitive nature makes it especially effective in high-mobility areas and difficult-to-bond zones:
- Bonding platinum silicone prosthetics (noses, ears, scars, foreheads, etc.) directly onto skin.
- Adhering latex pieces in theatrical, film and television special effects makeup.
- Periorbital and perioral applications where other adhesives fail due to continuous movement.
- Securing thin edges of encapsulated prosthetics for an invisible finish.
- Use with external medical prosthetics on sensitive or problematic skin.
- Ideal complement in workflows already using Telesis 8 when faster drying is required.
How to use it
- Prepare the skin: clean and degrease the application area with a non-oily cleanser. The skin must be dry and free of creams or oils.
- Prepare the prosthetic: make sure the back face of the silicone or latex piece is clean and free of any release agent residue.
- Apply a thin layer: spread a thin, even coat of Telesis 9 over the edge of the prosthetic or directly onto the skin, according to your preferred technique.
- Allow the solvent to evaporate: wait a few seconds until the adhesive goes from shiny to matte. In high-humidity conditions or if you need an even faster dry, use Telesis 9 Thinner to adjust viscosity and working time.
- Press and bond: place the prosthetic over the area and apply firm pressure for a few seconds. The pressure-sensitive adhesive activates the bond immediately.
- Blend and paint: blend the edges with latex or encapsulant if needed, then proceed with makeup and finishing.
- Removal: use a non-oily silicone cleanser (Telesis Silicone Remover) to remove without damaging the prosthetic or skin.
Usage tips
Control drying time with the Thinner
If you need more working time for large pieces or very fine edges, add a few drops of Telesis 9 Thinner to the adhesive in a mixing palette. The Thinner reduces viscosity and slows drying, giving you a working time comparable to that of Telesis 5, without compromising the final bond strength.
High-mobility areas: more layers, thinner coats
Around the mouth, eyelids and expression lines, the key is not to apply more product but more very thin layers. Apply the first coat, let it dry completely and apply a second one before positioning the prosthetic. This method reduces edge lifting during performance or shooting days.
Storage and shelf life
Close the bottle tightly after each use and store it in a cool place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. A well-sealed bottle maintains its effectiveness throughout the working season. If the adhesive thickens over time, Telesis 9 Thinner can restore the original consistency.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between this adhesive and others in the same line?
Telesis 9 is the fastest-drying adhesive in the entire Telesis line. Telesis 8 offers more working time, making it better suited for large pieces or multi-step processes. Telesis 9, on the other hand, is designed for quick applications on set or stage where time is critical. With Telesis 9 Thinner you can adjust the working time of Telesis 9 to bring it closer to that of earlier versions if needed.
Is it safe to use directly on skin?
Yes. Telesis 9 is a medical-grade adhesive formulated specifically for contact with human skin. It has been tested by independent laboratories for dermal irritation and inhalation levels, and contains no known carcinogens, reproductive toxins or cytotoxins. On sensitive skin, a patch test beforehand is always recommended.
Does it work equally well with silicone prosthetics and latex?
Yes. Telesis 9 is designed to bond both platinum silicone prosthetics and latex pieces. In both cases, the key is that the surface of the prosthetic is clean and free of release agents or oils before applying the adhesive.
How is it removed without damaging the prosthetic?
The recommended method is to use Telesis Silicone Remover, a non-oily silicone cleanser that dissolves the adhesive without attacking either the skin or the prosthetic material. Avoid oil-based removers, as they can degrade silicone pieces over time.
Can I use it to bond prosthetics around the eyes?
Yes, this is one of the uses it is expressly designed for. Its strength and elasticity make it ideal for periorbital areas, where eyelid movement subjects the adhesive to constant stress. Apply thin layers and allow each one to dry thoroughly to maximise adhesion in that area.
What should I do if the adhesive has thickened in the bottle?
Add a few drops of Telesis 9 Thinner directly into the bottle or into a mixing palette to restore the original fluidity. Do not use generic solvents, as they can alter the properties of the adhesive.
Is it compatible with water-based paints and makeups?
Telesis 9 is a silicone adhesive, so water-based paint does not adhere well directly onto it. For the final makeup over the already-bonded prosthetic, use alcohol-activated paints or paints specifically formulated for silicone. The adhesive itself does not interfere with the appearance of the piece once the edges are blended.
Do I need other products to complete an FX prosthetic application?
For a complete FX prosthetic you need, in addition to the adhesive, a platinum silicone or encapsulant to manufacture the piece, pigments and paints for the final makeup, and a suitable remover for removal. Telesis 9 is the bonding adhesive; PROTAC can be an acrylic alternative if you work with other types of pieces or very sensitive skin.
