What it is used for
The Playmarker Light Green is a versatile tool designed for those who need precision, speed and convenience without sacrificing the quality of professional acrylic paint. Its most common applications are:
- Painting vegetation areas, uniforms or equipment on scale models of military vehicles, dioramas and aircraft.
- Colouring wargame miniatures (infantry, monsters, terrain) with controlled strokes and without the need for a palette.
- Touching up edges, detail lines or painting mistakes on already worked surfaces.
- Applying quick base colour coats before shading or highlighting with other AK Interactive products.
- Cosplay and SFX work on foam, resin or plastic pieces where stroke control is needed.
- Colour sketches and colour scheme tests on practice surfaces.
How to use it
- Surface preparation: Clean the piece of dust and grease. For best results, apply a white primer beforehand (an AK Interactive spray primer works great). Light Green, like all Playmarkers, gains coverage and vibrancy over a light base.
- Activating the marker: Shake the Playmarker well for a few seconds. Press the tip gently on a test surface until the paint flows evenly through the felt tip.
- Application: Paint with smooth, continuous strokes. The brush-type tip allows both fine lines and broader areas. You can apply several coats once the previous one is dry to increase opacity.
- Blending and transitions: While the paint is still wet, you can blend Light Green with other Playmarkers or feather the edges with a slightly damp brush to achieve gradients.
- Drying: The paint dries to the touch in a few minutes. Leave at least 30 minutes before applying additional coats or weathering products.
- Weathering and varnishing: Once dry, you can safely apply any AK Interactive weathering product on top. If you want to change the finish (matte, satin or gloss), varnish with the corresponding product without any risk of damaging the paint.
- Cleaning: Clean the tip with a damp cloth after use. If the tip becomes saturated or worn, replace it with a new one ( tip).
Usage tips
Thin coats for greater control
Although the Playmarker Light Green has high coverage, working with thin, successive coats gives you more control over the final result. A first semi-transparent coat can serve as a glaze to unify tones, while subsequent coats add opacity where you need it. This approach lets you build up colour progressively, just like with any modelling acrylic paint.
Fully compatible with your usual workflow
Light Green holds up perfectly to washes, pigments and AK Interactive weathering products applied on top. If at any point you need a finish different from the marker's natural satin, apply AK Interactive matte or gloss varnish once the paint is dry. The colour will not be affected or lifted.
Frequently asked questions
Can this marker be used on any surface?
The Playmarker Light Green adheres well to plastic, resin, metal and wood. For very smooth or non-porous surfaces, it is recommended to apply a primer coat first to improve adhesion and colour coverage.
Can the marker paint be mixed with other products?
Yes. Being water-based acrylic, the Playmarker Light Green is compatible with AK Interactive acrylic paints. You can feather edges with a damp brush, apply washes on top or blend colours while the paint is still fresh.
Is varnishing necessary after painting with the marker?
It is not essential, as the Playmarker Light Green paint is resistant to handling, water and heat once dry. However, if you want to change the satin finish to matte or gloss, or if you are going to apply aggressive weathering techniques, varnishing with the appropriate AK Interactive product is good practice.
How many coats are needed for good coverage?
In most cases, two thin coats over white primer are sufficient to achieve solid coverage with the Playmarker Light Green. Over dark or unprimed surfaces, additional coats may be necessary.
