What it is used for
Fixing Spray is designed for any professional or artist who needs makeup to hold from the first rehearsal to the end of the day. Its most common applications include:
- Setting bodypainting for photo sessions, events or live performances
- Protecting water-activated makeups in stage or film characterisations
- Sealing FX characterisations on skin, especially alongside PROTAC Acrylic Adhesive for FX Makeup
- Setting carnival, theatre and television makeups where extended durability is required
- Protection against perspiration during performances or shoots under intense lighting and heat
- Final sealing of complete characterisations over prosthetics bonded with Telesis 8
How to use it
- Apply the complete makeup — including colours, shadows or bodypainting details — and allow it to dry fully before using the spray.
- Shake the container well before each use.
- Hold the can at approximately 30 cm from the skin.
- Spray gently and evenly with a continuous motion, avoiding product build-up in any single area.
- Keep eyes closed and keep the spray away from mucous membranes (eyes, mouth, nose).
- Allow to dry completely before the model comes into contact with clothing or other surfaces.
- To remove the makeup, use warm water and soap.
Usage tips
Distance and thin coat — key to the finish
The temptation is to bring the spray closer to cover faster, but applying it too close can cause build-up that alters the colour or finish of the makeup. Maintaining the recommended 30 cm ensures a homogeneous, invisible layer. If greater protection is needed, apply two thin coats allowing drying time between them, rather than a single thick coat.
Compatibility with prosthetics and adhesives
Fixing Spray is especially effective as a final coat over makeups applied on top of prosthetics bonded with adhesives such as Telesis 8 Adhesivo de Silicona. If you ever need to blend or work the silicone adhesive, Telesis 8 Thinner is the appropriate thinner to adjust its consistency before painting. Once the prosthetic is painted and ready, the spray sets the whole look without disturbing the prosthetic edges.
Storage and preservation
Store the can upright, away from heat and direct sunlight. The product contains alcohol, so improper storage can affect the can's pressure. Do not store alongside flammable materials. Once opened, there is no use limitation due to opening, but always check that the nozzle is not blocked before each session.
Frequently asked questions
Can this spray be used over any type of makeup?
Fixing Spray is formulated to be compatible with water-activated makeups, bodypainting and FX characterisations in general. It is especially effective over water-based paints, which are the most vulnerable to perspiration and rubbing. For silicone-based makeups or special materials, always do a patch test on a small area first.
How long does it take to dry after application?
Drying time is quick thanks to the alcohol base of the product. Under normal temperature conditions, the protective layer sets within a few minutes. For added safety, wait until the surface is no longer slightly cool to the touch (a sign that the alcohol has evaporated) before the model gets dressed or comes into contact with other surfaces.
Is it sweat-resistant during long performances?
Yes. Fixing Spray is specifically designed to resist perspiration and cold water, making it highly suitable for stage performances, shows under spotlights or outdoor photo sessions. For particularly demanding conditions, a second thin coat can reinforce the protection.
Can it be applied all over the face, including eyelids?
No. Fixing Spray contains alcohol and must not be applied near the eyes or mucous membranes. Keep eyes closed during application and avoid spraying directly onto the eye contour area. For setting makeup in very delicate areas, consult a specialist in FX makeup.
How is makeup set with this spray removed?
Makeup protected with Fixing Spray is easily removed with warm water and soap. No solvents or harsh products are required. The protective layer dissolves with normal washing, allowing a thorough, residue-free clean.
Does it alter the colour or finish of the makeup?
No. Fixing Spray creates an invisible layer that does not modify the colour or visual finish of the makeup applied underneath. The key is to respect the recommended application distance (30 cm) and apply thin, even coats to avoid any unwanted effects.
Is it suitable for sensitive skin?
Fixing Spray is a cosmetic preparation formulated for use on skin, but as it contains alcohol it may be irritating on very sensitive skin or skin with a compromised barrier. Always do a patch test on a small area before applying over large surfaces and avoid contact with irritated skin or open wounds.
