How to use it
- Prepare the amount of silicone you need (both component A and component B, in the ratio indicated by your chosen silicone).
- Add the Dye Plat Fantasy to component A before mixing with the hardener. This ensures uniform colour dispersion.
- Start with 1–2 drops per 100 g of silicone and adjust according to the desired colour intensity. The high concentration means a small amount goes a long way.
- Mix thoroughly until you achieve a homogeneous colour with no streaks.
- Add component B and mix following the instructions of the base silicone.
- Apply or pour into the mould following your usual working process with your silicone.
- You can combine several Dye Plat Fantasy colours together to create custom shades before mixing with the hardener.
Warning — inhibition risk with platinum silicones: If you are working with a platinum silicone, avoid contact with any material containing sulphur (sulphur-based clays, certain adhesives), tin compounds, latex, amines or natural rubber residues. These materials can inhibit silicone curing even after the pigment has been incorporated. Always perform a small-scale cure test before pouring a complete piece. Dye Plat Fantasy pigments themselves are compatible with platinum silicones when used correctly and in the recommended proportions.
Usage tips
Start with a small amount of pigment
The high concentration of Dye Plat Fantasy is their main advantage, but it can catch you off guard if you add too much at once. Add the pigment drop by drop and evaluate the colour in a small amount of silicone before pigmenting the entire batch. Keep in mind that the colour may look slightly different once the silicone has cured compared to its liquid state.
Colour mixing for skin tones and effects
You can combine different colours from the Dye Plat Fantasy range to achieve realistic skin tones or unique fantasy effects. Work with a small palette of uncatalysed liquid silicone to test mixes before committing the full batch. Note down the proportions used so you can replicate the result in subsequent runs.
