Silicona Body Silk-Cast

The Body Silk-Cast silicona from Feroca is a long-lasting silicona that can be applied directly onto the skin to make molds of the face, hands, and any part of the body. However, it is not recommended for use on sensitive areas of the body such as mucous membranes, wounds, etc.
It is self-releasing, meaning it will detach very easily without the need for a release agent from areas with hair, such as beards, mustaches, eyebrows, etc. Therefore, you won't need to apply petroleum jelly to those areas.
Body Silk-Cast cures quickly and reproduces even the finest details of the original.
Unlike alginato, with Body Silk-Cast you can produce a large number of copies, casting in almost any material, such as plaster, wax, polyurethane resins, polyester resins, acrylic resins, low-melting-point metals, etc.
We recommend making the counter-mold with plaster bandages to support the silicona mold.
Plaster bandages

The Sio-2 plaster bandages from Feroca are ideal for Life Casting counter-molds.
They dry very quickly and achieve the desired surface or relief by covering any material (cardboard, wood, metal, glass, plastic, etc.) This type of bandage is ideal for masks, molds, and scale models.

Safety tests
- Before starting a life casting project on a human body or any part of it, you need to test the products.
Our expert, Juan Villa, explains in the tutorial that even though Body Silk-Cast silicona is safe for skin contact, an allergy test should be carried out on the subject or model before starting the project.
This test can be done on sensitive areas such as the arm or wrist to rule out any possible allergic reactions.

Likewise, the expert recommends taking all relevant safety precautions, such as wearing gloves, a mask, and working in well-ventilated areas.
- Villa also recommends checking the technical data sheet for this product, since as a platinum silicona it cannot come into contact with metal, látex, or polyester.
Preparing the material for a human body mold
Body Silk-Cast silicona differs from similar products such as alginato in that reproductions can be made in any type of material, whether rigid or flexible. In addition, another major advantage of silicona over alginato is that the mold is very durable, allowing many copies to be made from a single mold.
Furthermore, when applying Body Silk-Cast silicona to more sensitive areas such as the face, this silicona will not stick to eyebrows or eyelashes, unlike other products of its kind.

Preparing this material essentially involves two parts:
- On one hand, the silicona comes in two containers with different solutions: one labeled 1A and another 1B, designed to be mixed together. Place equal amounts in two separate containers.
-
Next, pour both contents together and mix them with the help of a wooden spatula.

Applying the silicona for Life Cast
- After mixing the material and allowing it to rest, the next step is to apply the silicona to the desired part of the body.
In this particular case, Juan Villa applies the resulting silicona mixture to his own hand. Villa highlights the importance of taking a small amount at a time and spreading it out, making sure not to leave any gaps in the process.

- As a second step, aim to create a uniform layer with a minimum thickness and no imperfections, for which you can use a wooden spatula or palette knife.
The working time is around 6 minutes.
As additional recommendations, Villa explains that it is better not to keep the products too cold, and that it is always best to use a silicona that is safe for contact with human skin and does not stick to hair.
In this case, Body Silk-Cast does not require the use of a release agent or petroleum jelly — products that could also leave pores in the finished silicona.
Plaster counter-mold
- After about 20–25 minutes of resting, the silicona has hardened and taken the desired shape. In this case, the shape of Juan Villa's hand.
The expert proceeds to gently remove the silicona from his hand, revealing a silicona mold that demonstrates its potential through an impressive level of detail.

- The next step is to make the plaster counter-mold using the Sio-2 plaster bandages from Feroca.
- Although this particular video does not show how to make a plaster counter-mold, the process is quite straightforward:
- Cut the bandage to the desired size depending on the surface to be covered. Then submerge the plaster bandage in warm or hot water for 3 seconds and wring it out by gently pressing the bandage.
- Next, apply it to the desired surface using your hands. To reinforce the mold, and depending on the type of mold, several layers should be applied. In this case, there is no need to wait for the previous layer to dry.
The hardening time is around 2 to 3 minutes. If the plaster is applied directly onto skin, a protective cream should be applied beforehand to avoid pulling hair or body hair.
